Very Interesting with a Guide

Mycenae is a fascinating place with a guide. It is otherwise a big hill to climb with a lot of rocks. Our guide brought it alive and we enjoyed the walk and the view.

Upon much research, we decided to visit this place. Being charged 12euro per person instead/maybe its the price for summer. Went with expectations to see ruin buildings but instead 90% of the ruins are just ancient rocks lying on the the ground. Some explanations and diagrams exibited along the way but you have to use your imagination pretty much. A... More

An amazing historical place, a unique experience for the traveller. One of the most important monuments in greek and european history. However, its good to have a guide in order to notice all the details of the place

This is one of the highlights of our visit to Greece. The site has been occupied for over 3500 years and, of course, is where Agamemnon ruled at the time of the Trojan war. There are some unforgettable places like the Lion Gate, the cistern and what is sometimes called Agamemnon's Tomb (or the Treasury). Fabulous. We were able to... More

Drive all the way to the top of the road - it becomes a parking lot. I arrived at Mycenae from Epidaurus at 10:00 AM on Friday. This was a huge mistake! There were at least four buses there, two of elementary school students and two of high school students. The chaperones seemed to be “over it” and were letting... More

As a student of ancient history, I was excited to visit the ancient city of Mycenae and I was not disappointed. Walking where King Agamemnon (from Homer) walked was awe inspiring. Come prepared to walk and climb. If you are not part of a tour, you will want to invest in some sort of guide book. The view from the... More

A really incredible ancient site - arguably the pinnacle of our trip to Greece - again an opportunity to marvel at the fruits of the ancient world.

We went with a guide, who explained the excavations. The treasures found here are all housed in the National Archeological Museum in Athens - well worth a visit !

This supposed to be outstanding historical site has no information since Summer 2016. All the information panels have been removed or remain empty. The toilets are worse than in a third world country. What do they do with the 6€ of ticket per person? The management of the site has been receiving complaints since almost 1 year now and nothing... What a Greek tragedy. Since last summer we were told there are no explanations panels on the site available. The Greek administration is once more unable to maintain their treasures and to help people understand their culture. As no information panels exists one sees a nice bunch of stones and with the info folder one has one sentence explaining what... More
