Fabulous sculpture room

Does a great job of explaining the rise and fall of the city from its early origins through to its eventual abandonment.

spent a lot longer than planned in this very great museum, glad i was there in the slow season, as was still a bit crowded with tour groups and too vocal guides, and the ubiquitous people taking selfies, oblivious to the historical ramifications all around

So much to see in so little time. I do wish they would expand the museum as it can get very crowded there. Perhaps adding some audio and a film would also make it more easy to understand the culture of this time. It is hard to grasp it all!

Lots of statues, mostly damaged or incomplete but there are are originals and reproductions to give you the full scope.

Removal destination for much of Olympia site statuary and interesting artifacts, so must see it along with the site. Athena Nike particularly beautiful. On site tourist infrastructure not too great. Cafe closed, and no covered walkway from Museum to car park to protect from sun and rain - we were soaked!

Take the time (no more than an hour needed) to see this museum before exploring the Olympic site. It will give one an understanding of what was once on the site going back thousands of years. It is an excellent museum in air-conditioned splendor.

We stopped into the museum after our time at the Ancient Olympia site. While it is a relatively small museum, we enjoyed our time there and the fact that we got to see some of the preserved items. Overall worth a short visit.

It was busy and bustling with tour groups from cruise ships etc. Glad this stop was included in our ticket price for the ancient site. Otherwise, I'm not sure if i'd purposely pay to enter the museum. I must admit, i'm not a museum buff.

First, I need to admit that museums interest me less than actual sites. I can only look at so many pots, coins and tools, and most statutes out of context are only so interesting. Still, this is a very nice museum. It is attractive and well-organized. It is worth seeing as a companion to the actual site. Walk the Olympics... More
