This hike is exceptional in spring with the path leading up through a pine forest with glorious bird song and the delicate wildflowers such as cyclamen, crocus and primrose just emerging. The trailhead was a challenge to find because we could not read the Greek for Refuge, Katafiyo. Turn off the road going south out of Sparti at the village... More

We drove from Kalamata to Sparta in early January. The road is very good, safe and interesting to ride. Though you need to be careful especially on snowy parts of the route. The views are astonishing. It's so impressive to see how big trees grow on the rocks. The colors and sights are sometimes unbelievable. We had lunch and coffee... More

Magic indeed exists!! Try hiking at the mountain and rediscover locked parts of yourself. Whether you reach the peak or just try the paths, the experience is unique.

We drove the mountain route from Sparta to Kalamata and it was astonishingly impressive and a bit scary. The rounds wind round mountain gorges which is a bit oppressive as you fee closed in by the sides of the mountains. At some point there are rock overhangs over the road and a tunnel. There are hairpin bends and sheer drops... More

Was not expecting the beauty and entertainment of this drive. Great scenery and challenging drive through the mountain range containing the highest peak in the Peloponnese area. Two-lane highway provides thrills as it winds through this mountain range and features rock overhangs and tunnels through which the road was built. Have your camera ready. Beautiful and fun!

Wonderful, dramatic scenery, winding roads, lush vegetation, quaint villages. Travelled through on route to Mistras and Sparti. Well worth it.

We stayed in a beautiful hotel half way up the Mountain. The views were supreme. The air was clean. It was a very refreshing take on Greece. Quite a contrast to the July and August crowds and heat around the most popular tourist spots.
