A very small collection of artefacts & info on HC Andersen but the main site is the HC Andersen museum. If you buy a ticket for both places it's worthwhile but if you only have time for one site go to the museum.

We arrived 15m before closing, after a 2.5h drive, we were all smiles glad to have made it. Another woman walked in at the same time. It's quite a small house, so I wasn't worried. The staff person informed us that she had already cashed...More

We had some difficulty finding the small house house where the writer H.C. Anders spent most of his childhood (H.C. Barndomshjem) because the half-timbered façade was entirely covered in scaffolding when we visited in May. The museum was open though. Some Tripadvisor reviewers seem to...More

To think three families lived in is house! As well as seeing where HCAndersen lived, it provides an insight into town life in the early 1800s, particularly for the poor.

This was Andersen's home from age 2-14. It was very small, which can explain why Andersen developed such a large imagination. It was humbling to visit his family's modest abode. In the back is a garden with benches and cafe tables. Enjoy the serenity on...More

After seeing the museum and the model of his childhood home there we came to see the original house. It is very small with a small garden and fell below our expectations.

It's a very small and cosy place to visit and not a lot to see. H. C. Andersen lived in this house from the age of 2 to 14. In the back there's a garden, not open during winter. You can buy a ticket here...More

It was touching seen the place where Christian Andersen grew up. It teaches you that you don't need much to be happy and makes you appreciate what you have.

I love visiting H. C. Andersen's childhood home. It's such a beautiful and interesting place. We get stories and history about him and his family, we can't get the same way other places. I clearly remember the first time i visited, when i was 10...More
