I would highly recommend going to this one instead of the one in Copenhagen. It is in the area of Andersen's childhood home, much more authentic, and has an incredible storyline of his life and works. I was on a tight schedule but could have easily spent a couple of hours there. Across the street is a theater for children... More

This museum incorporates the house where HCA was born, with very simple furnishings reconstructed. (His childhood home is nearby, also part of the museum). The main feature of the HCA museum is a thoughtfully arranged chronology of his life in glass cases, with good explanations in English as well as Danish. There is also a reconstruction of one of the... More

A visit to the Hans Christian Anderson Museum brought me back to my childhood and delightful memories of reading fairy tales and stories. The museum's exhibitions take you through Anderson’s life from 1805 to 1875 and include some re-creations of his stories like The Princess and the Pea and The Emperor’s New Clothes. The museum also exhibits the house that... More

The museum includes a visit to Hans Christian Andersen's childhood home and both are well worth a visit. If you are also planning to visit Funen Village, (a great day out), make sure you let the ticket seller know and purchase a ticket that will save you 30%.

Discover the soul behind the poetic children's stories in his city of birth. This museum is thorough and informative without being overwhelming. You can see copies of his tales and books in every language currently available. His birthplace has been incorporated into the modern museum. This was a dream come true for my childlike heart!

Visited the museum for the first time. Great experience but we needed more time to take in more information. The way the museum is set up was interesting setting up the time frame the writer lived in. The museum is in a beautiful setting being in the old town. There is a tranquil garden to sit in. There is a... More
