This place has a lovely atmosphere and the staff were very friendly and helpful. I was just leaving the otters when one staff member approached me and suggested I stayed as she was about to feed them. There was a running commentary although it was not in English, great to watch though. The animals looked in good condition however the... More

Copenhagen Zoo is located far from the center of the city. It is better to arrive there with a public transport. It is one of the oldest zoos in Europe, from the 19th century. It has some services like restaurants or shops, where you can eat or drink, or buy something. We came here with my baby and she enjoy... More

I was very nervous to take my girlfriend to Copenhagen zoo, as she is very concerned about animal captivity and their conditions in zoos. Having read the reviews, I was expecting sad animals and poor enclosures, but this was not really the case. On the whole I feel the criticisms of the zoo are over-exaggerated, and although this is probably... More

It was so cold when we visited that we only managed a couple of hours. It was so cold, even the Polar bear wasn't playing out. The entrance fee was included on the pre paid 'Copenhagen Card' which we just showed on the day. We really enjoyed the Lions and the bat enclosure. My little boy was disappointed that we... More

It was one great zoo with a large variety of animals, even kangaroos.. I think the attraction is the polish bear that gets in the water all the time !!

Nice zoo, but not very special. We enjoyed the zoo on january 1., it is not very cheap. The animale do not have big habits. Would be one of the oldest zoo's in Europe, but the atmosphere is not special. Allthough okay to spend a few hours.

We went on a family trip here largely because it was the only thing open on New Years Day. What a mistake as we came away appalled. The animals are in tiny enclosures and it's frankly darn right cruelty. The ennui of the animals was plain to see especially the lions. I bet the best thing that has happened to... More

The animals seemed sad. The enclosures are far too small, the polar bears paced back and forth on the same spot for hours and were clearly in distress. Would not visit again.

Staying in Frederiksberg

Neighbourhood Profile
Frederiksberg
Located between Noerrebro and Vesterbro you’ll find Frederiksberg, which is actually a municipality in itself but completely surrounded by Copenhagen. Here there are several fine theaters, from the experimental to the great Det Ny Teater (The New Theater) which specializes in transcribing the great London and New York musicals into Danish, and has done so for several years with huge success. In Frederiksberg you’ll find Denmark’s most beautiful (and expensive) city villas. These 4-5 square miles form the Beverly Hills of Copenhagen. Here you’ll also find Frederiksberg Have (Garden) which sports huge outdoor concerts, from classical to electronic dance music. To top it off, dining options range from cozy family restaurants to some of the area’s most trendy cafés.
