On our way to see the Little Mermaid, we found ourselves wandering through the former naval barracks of the city entirely by chance but we were very glad to have done so. Pretty red cottages laid out on either side of a wide street were charming to walk through and it was a little like stepping back in time. Planned... More

A hidden gem with an enthusiastic knowledgeable volunteer guide who spoke excellent English and gave us a private conducted tour. Worth going to see the little cottage, plus specialforces exhibit. Sadly printed info in Danish but a small problem. Hopefully they will get UNESCO world heritage site rating.

Came across this area whilst returning to the docks, it is very quaint and very old, there are several plaques which explain its history and it makes it a worthwhile stop whilst wondering around.

We stumbled upon this area almost by accident, which would be a shame to miss. The historic area was planned by the famous king Christian IV who wanted to build a row of naval barracks to accommodate the families of the Royal Navy personnel. It is a row of yellow houses (although its original color was red and white) which... More

Interesting row of old houses. We did not realize they had any historic interest when we went pass them, but realised after reading the plaques with info on them. For the history buff they are fascinating

We found this place when we looked for a place too park the car when we went to the little mermaid. And it was cool, we parked our car here (don't even know if that was allowed) but when we got back, we could not find it. All the houses look the same. So we walked a bit around the... More

Running back from the mermaid statue, I spotted a queer row of houses. I thought it was new develpment. But looking closely, it was not. It was Danish architecture and it was a fascinating find itself. I managed to understand although the readings were in danish. The Swedish letters closely resemble the danish characters. Hence giving me a clearer idea... More
