Certainly worth a visit

Nice area to visit, plenty of shops, bars and restaurants. You can get on a boat from Gammel and do a canal tour, which we did, takes about 1 hour to get around the canal and... read more

The oldest part of Copenhagen. The street name means old beach. Here in medieval times the ships anchored up with their cargoes of fish opposite the old Copenhagen castle- where the Parliament building of Christiansborg stands today. Many fine buildings stand in this street including the old Assistenshus now housing the Ministry of Culture from 1793. Most of the other houses are... More

Nice area to visit, plenty of shops, bars and restaurants. You can get on a boat from Gammel and do a canal tour, which we did, takes about 1 hour to get around the canal and really enjoyable. It was very cold so getting back to Gammel was great since you have a lot of choice regarding restaurants. Certainly worth... More

This central area is very popular and busy with roads leading off through the main shopping area down to Nyhavn and also is a short walk from the Christiansborg Palace. With the canal also running close by many canal tours starting point is here. A number of cafes and restaurants are situated around this area and with outside seating offer... More

The Gammel Strand, is a lovely area of the city to stroll around - it is undergoing many works at present but it does not really effect the experience. Another great place to visit.

At the time, there is metro construction at Gammel Strand so this can cause an impediment if you want to enjoy the view. However, the atmosphere is nice and relaxing especially if you enjoy a cup of coffee by one of the many cafes or restaurants by the canal.

Statues, local cafes, busy with traffic of tourists and locals. A must do on any of Copenhagen's walking tours.

I walked though this area. There are a number of shop. A number of statues (European cites seem to love statues), and a number of places to each. It's interesting to walk and just look at the building. Nice

Nice enough. Bit of a wander, bit of shopping and a drink or two. Not worth going out of your way for but its so central you'll pass by without realising it.

The area is a continuation of the charm of the walking street although it is wider. Its best landmark is the statue of Absalon, the Danish bishop/statesman. It is majestic and well kept.

Gammel Strand is along Strøget in Copenhagen City(pedestrian walk). The street with its old buildings now houses lovely shops, cafes and restaurants. This is a great place to stop for a drink at one of the many outside cafes if you are tired from walking Strøget or while wandering around the city.
