St. Laurentius is full of mystery and stories about Roskilde city center About 2 meters below Staendertorvet you will find the rest of St. Laurentii Church which is famous for well preserved and original brick floor. In the ruins there is a small museum with finds from the archaeological excavation carried out in 1998. You can also visit the church tower with a beautiful view over the city and look into the old and preserved dungeons.

We were so pleased to have visited the ruins - right in the Main Street of Roskilde! You can’t imagine the things that have been uncovered and that are so recognisable today. Well worth a visit

I did not find the ruins underneath the church compelling, and the climb up the tower was arduous with little payoff. With the Copenhagen Card, it didn't cost money, so why not? Otherwise, I would skip it.

Fun for kids as there is a "treasure hunt" under the streets of Roskilde where the old church ground was

The church or now town hall faces the main square of the town and with its architecture adds to the general experience of the medieval feeling.
