Spilli never fails to delight and the fountain is a reminder of just how pure and life giving the waters of the Cretan mountains can be. Set in the centre of the village, they are unmissable, cool and relaxing and within easy reach of some lovely shops for Cretan products to spoil yourself.

I really liked walking through the town and posing with the fountain. The water is drinkable and it's really good! It is not hard to find and actually surrounded by some good food and a few tourist shops here and there. My only issue was the amount of staring the villagers did to me and my friends, it was a... Spili is a quiet village, ideal to visit if you're tired of crowds and confusion. This fountain, really picturesque, is just one of its attractions. If you are in the area, don't miss it!

Love the taste of this water. Healthy way of life... We drink this water every time we can. Great stop too or from south beaches.

Whilst on a journey from the North to the South of Crete, we on recommendation from a friend stopped for a coffee break in Spili. Spili although a bit "touristy" is still very charming and the Venetian fountain with its gushing water is at the centre. Everyone gravitates towards it. Large free car park just off the road on the... More

On the road from Rethymnom to the southcoast (Phaistos, Matala, ect), you will pass the little mountain-village Spili. An idyllic little village. Take a rest here. In the center, you will find the beautiful Lion Fountain. You can drink the water ! When you are in Spili: Don't forget the Church and the Folk Museum

Not worth a special visit but nice to stop and have a drink if you're passing through. The town is quite touristy but if you like Greek honey then the local Spili honey is some of the best you can get.

Nice old fountain with the coolest and clearest water you can imagine. Lovely sidewalk cafes facing the fountain, so sit back, relax and enjoy the lovely atmosphere.

Spili was a very cosy town with little cafés and tourist shops; the fountain itself was nothing super extraordinary but it was beautiful and the central attraction of Spili, with fresh drinkable water!
