Come along to the world’s largest underground iron-ore mine. We go by bus directly from the Tourist Center into the mountain and down to the show mine LKAB’s Visitor Centre at level 540 metres. Here in Kiruna much revolves around our mine. The guide will talk about modern mining and how it can cause a whole town to be moved. Coffee and cookies will be served in the cafe. A warm welcome!

The tour was well organised and explained. We went underground but not to a working part of the mine. There was equipment to see and the mining process was well explained. The tour is most suited to people with an interest in geology, engineering etc.

I have never, never encountered such a lousy and ignorant website as about the LKAB visitor center. There is NO clear statement that you have to book in advance. I was there with other individual travellers having no chance of a visit because of Chinese group travellers - and the tourist office does not care at all. And LKAB -... More

It started good, and the pick-up by bus in Kiruna taking you down to the mine had potential. The guide was very nice and spoke calmly (English tour) so it was easy for everyone to understand. There could have been a bit more emotion and spontaneity in the tour and it sometime felt like it was done reading a script... More

By bus to LKAB and the mine. Going down for 15 minutes to the production level. Visual presentation of the mine and why the city Kiruna has to move.

We tried to go on this tour, but were told by the Tourist office that it was fully booked for that day and the next tour in Saturday. If it is this popular why don't they run more regular tours than three per week? Disappointed.

The tour bus starts a slow descend to 1,770 feet (540 m) into darkness like an amusement park ride. It’s not for claustrophobic people since the entire tour is underground but fresh air is pumped into the shafts and there’s good artificial lighting. It’s amazing how clean it is since it’s a working mine. The tour guide was very good... More

Located 145 km inside the Arctic circle in Norrbotten County, Lapland, Sweden, is the world’s largest underground iron ore mine. Owned by Luossavaara-Kiirunavaara Aktiebolag (LKAB), a state-run mining company, it has an annual production capacity of over 26 million tonnes of iron ore. The Kiruna ore body is 4 kilometres long, 80 metres to 120 metres thick and reaches a... More

LKAB is something everyone going to Kiruna should visit! The city center is going to be moved because of the iron ore mine. Since the mine is of essence for the locals, it is a must. The entire tour down in the mine is about 2 hours.
