About
NOTE: FREE ENTRANCE Our workshop is located in the handicraft, artistic park of Anopolis, in Kokkini Hani area to Hersonisos municipality.Since 1964 we manufacture bronze statues and other artifacts, using the method of smelting, using the exact same way that the Minoans were producing their artifacts, which we admire nowadays in museums all over the world. The art of sculpture together with the art of smelting metal are the basic stages of our work. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to be guided to all areas of our workshop and of course to our exhibition hall, should you wish to buy your souvenirs or give us any special order! And, if you would like you can create your casting metal statue (casting lessons by us, about 1,5- 2 hour) just for 15€ per person! Now, with the license of Cretan Hands (guarantee for best Crete products)! If you don't have a car we can transport you to our workshop and also take you back to your hotel with our mini van free of charge!
Duration: 1-2 hours

This is my second visit to Yannis and Odysseus’ workshop. With both groups we had a fantastic visit that was memorable enough to recommend to friends. It’s a great way to spent your time in Crete and the hospitality and welcome is wonderful. I highly recommend visiting them for a great couple of hours to learn some things about bronze casting and have a go at it. They never pressure you to buy your cast at the end and their gallery of products that they have made themselves is beautiful! Coffees and biscuits provided! Can’t recommend enough. I will be back for a third time my next trip to Crete. Thanks Odysseus for a great time and my beautiful miniature sword! 🗡️

Odysseus and his father are amazing hosts, teachers and artists. It was incredible to spend a few hours in the workshop and the casts in the store are stunning.
Absolutely do go! It’s a lesson in history and craft.
PS: Our metal casts turned out beautifully and I’d like to say my sword was the best of our team (who all told me this later). Odysseus was diplomatic enough not to tell the rest of the group.
Spectacular day all round.

Absolutely amazing experience. True artists both Yannis and his son. We bought two beautiful sculptures. Without any doubts, a unique place. We even witnessed the famous Greek hospitality being greeted with very good coffe and tasty greek yoghurt with honey. Efharisto ! Dziękuje ! Polecam wszystkim z Polski, którzy będą niedaleko Heraklionu by odwiedzić to niesamowite miejsce, gdzie wciąż wytwarza się prawdziwa tradycyjna sztukę z brązu w stylu dawnych minojczyków !

A fantastic experience with Odysseus and Yannis excellent teaching and constant patience creating a calm and fun environment to learn to cast.
Both are superb craftsmen and excellent hosts, making us feel at ease at all times. I had a wonderful time and am very happy with my casting and my purchases from the shop.

We went to the foundry mainly out of curiosity and we were given explanations with great kindness. On the verge of closing, the father and son gave us precious time so as not to omit any detail of their magnificent profession. The store is a must-visit, they offer quality and unique products since each piece has been designed and manufactured directly in their workshop. Cretan generosity will never cease to amaze us. So we left with as many unique souvenirs as gifts.
Last foundry in Crete not to be missed.

Amazing! Yannis is quite an exceptional artist and truly appreciated how he explained everything to us. You have to see his works of art in person - good job and high quality. If you want something near and dear to your heart, Yannis can help you create those memories near and dear to your heart! Thank you!!!

We went to the Bronze workshop as a group of 8 classics students who were visiting Crete on an educational trip. We were so lucky to have found Yannis on trip advisor as it was one of the highlights of the trip. Yannis and his wife were so welcoming with food and drinks when we arrived and the whole experience of casting our own item was amazing and thoroughly entertaining. Yannis guided each of us through the workshop, giving us nicknames and individual help in our casting. The experience cost €15 and we were there for around 4 hours so it is definitely worth the money. We all even bought items from his workshop which he engraved for free with our names etc. Highly highly recommend if you’re in Heraklion.

Today I had an amazing workshop with 6 people. A great amount to get enough personal attention, watch the other do it a bit better than me and share a moment of surprise when realizing what a difficult job this is.
You get a real good look at the craftmanship that bronze making requires. Is harder than you think, I’ll tell you that. Eventhough you will make the model in zamak instead of bronze, the experience is just as real. Nice people and ofcoure a great place to buy nice presents.

Wasn’t able to visit till the last day of our trip just before going to the airport. It was THE BEST day. Yannis was very lovely and picked us up from the hotel.
He had prepared some nice tea and was very chatty, telling us about everything while setting up. Both the shop and studio are fascinating.
Yannis instructed us through the preparation and mould making before casting. Me and my companion were too short on time to finish the items ourselves so he worked away on that while leaving us to nibble on (super tasty) local cheese and beer he shared.
In all honesty this experience was the highlight of my trip and way more valuable than the asking price. I will definitely be going again If I return to Crete.
Thank you so much for an excellent experience
