The castle is very large, and probably expensive and difficult in upkeep. But nice to look at from the outside and the gardens are nice to wander about it. Located between two lakes. There is a restaurant and a hotel. The herb garden is well worth a look.

Really nice surroundings and historical buildings and the wall decor gives you that nice "castle" feeling - however a little "sterile" and not so warm, welcome and cosy. Food was a brunch buffet that was good, but perhaps not exceptional. However, ingredients were local - slow cooked side of smoked pork rather than just industrial bacon etc. etc. so no... More

From the outside Bäckaskogs slott looks very impressive, but unfortunately it's nicer from the outside than inside. Having said that, the breakfast room and other public rooms are rather nice, but the actual rooms vary in quality. Some are OK although a bit dated, while others are quite ghastly but in size and interior. Beware of this if you book... More

Very nice park, a beautiful castle that used to be a monastery, but it is not a historic site like Glimmingehus is. However, if you are looking for a decent hotel with a very good kitchen to enjoy a summer evening, then you have come to the right place. And... it´s haunted!

This castle (hotel-restaurant) is listed as being in Kristianstad but is acutally about a 15-20 min. drive outside the city. We arrived in the late afternoon thinking we might be able to get dessert or coffee but that did not seem to be possible. They do serve lunch and dinner. Another reviewer mentioned a museum but we did not find... More

Have visited a few times. The grounds are pretty for a walk-- right on a nice lake. Went to a company Christmas party here. The food and decor was impressive-- a traditional Swedish smorgasbord which even included a variety of wild game like wild boar, moose and reindeer as well as a ton of seafood. There are often events here.... More

The setting for Bäckaskog slott (castle) has such potential, being situated on a strip of land between large lakes. The building itself is imposing, but the park grounds are in need of an investment in new and imaginative planting. Trees have been felled due to disease and old age but there is little done to replace them. The park gains... More

We took a short look around the beautiful interiors of the lovely Slott and then had a wonderful walk around the grounds. We had a big group of about 20 relatives for dinner. Everything was delicious and the service was terrific. So glad we got to experience this lovely spot!

Food quality is well above average, and the setting in a gorgeous park is a wonderful stop for families with kids - as well as for the car driver needing a brief rest. I like the "museum" - although it's not more tnan a couple of exhibitions of how the castle has been used before industrialization.
