The place where Olof Palme, Swedish prime minister, was murdered. Regardless of political sentiments, it is an important part of modern Swedish history and should be commemorated with more than a plaque. Only worth a visit if you find the story particularly interesting.

The plauqe itself is quite boring even though it marks an historically significant spot in Stockholm. The murder of the swedish primeminister and the turbulant time that followed is interesting both from a social view but also a political one. The swedish police's effords in solving the murder is without a doubt, one of the greatest farses in the swedish... More

This is the spot where the former PM and Social Democrat was assassinated in 1986 after leaving the theatre. Palme showed interest in the divide amongst people and races. After some travels around the world, he took even more studies into the many different political systems in the world. This plaque is extremely difficult to find! We spent more than... More

We were guided to this while on Free Tour Stockholm's City Tour. It is just a simple plaque on the ground but behind it is a big event in Sweden's history from 1986 and you'll be standing on the exact spot of this event. Tips - Learn about this spot! Either research the Assassination of Olof Palme before visiting, or... More

Some have argued that this is a small, barely visible plaque that is easily missable (correct on both counts) and nothing special at all. They miss the point. The simplicity is exactly what the man it commemorates--Former Prime Minister Olof Palme would probably have wanted. If you are looking for a Taj Mahal, move along.

This is the place where the then Prime Minister of Sweden was shot walking home with his wife after watching a movie at the Grand Cinema further north on the same street, Sveavägen. The murderer has not been found until today.

Keep a watch as you are walking along the street of Sveavägen, the spot is marked with the plaque. From the spot look back towards the Grand Cinema and his walk can be visualised as he crossed the road to the spot where he was shot. Have a local person with you to explain the sequence of events or read... More
