Formerly the residence of Ernest Thiel and the family, now a gallery showing their collection of paintings. Many by Munch, but also many others Swedish painters. Beautiful rooms of furniture, painted walls and ceilings; overall a grand house. There is a lovely small cafe serving lunch and snacks as well as beer and wine. Highly recommended.

A pleasant ride out on the bus, and a short walk up the hill. This real home turned gallery. Gives a very good selection of turn of the century Swedish impressionism. No elevator, steps. Good cafe, great to get coffee to keep going.

♥♥ this seems to be an extraordinary building ♣ You should take care of your feeling, perhaps you should be prepared to enjoy this feeling of culture ♣ I love Thielska Galleriet out of Stockholm in the Djurgården park area. This building museum was originally the private residence and art gallery of the banker and collector Ernest Thiel (1859–1947) .... More

If you like paintings...and like to add to you photograph collection of paintings....definitely go here...it was worth the 10 bucks. It is the end of my week long trip...here... More

We took the buss 69 from Strandvägen to the museum, I have never been even though I have roamed Djurgården over the years. The building itself is beautiful and has been renovated quite recently. White with green decor, so impressive. The building on the inside was a harry potter feeling if different floors small room, bigger rooms and all in... More

Wonderful art museum on Djurgården island. Great permanent collection and interesting temporary exhibits. The house itself is quite quirky and worth visiting on its own. Great little café, though crowded, and beautiful surroundings.

The location is nice, also good for a warm day stroll westbound from Thiel Museum following the south shore of the Djurgården island. The building is an example how the upper echelon lived. The museum and art collection is fine for an Edvard Munch fans, otherwise I am sure there are way better collections elsewhere.

A little out of the way but easily accessible by bus from the Old Town, enchanting and opulent, this palace features many works of art and in particular a lovely rotunda on the second floor with outstanding paintings of imagined animals in bold colours.

A former industrialist's wonderful house has been transformed into a museum of his private collection of late 19th-early 20th C paintings. I was surprised to learn that Thiel collected Munch and a room is dedicated to his works. Also, wonderful collection of Swedish artisits. Special exhibitions are also featured. The house is also a delight to walk through all the... More
