Popular wig dog walkers, sightseers and joggers alike, the top gives a great view over northern Stockholm on a clear day.

The walk up the hill is very nice and the park is very green, but the museum is still closed and the signage says "Not open in 2014". Obviously, well into 2015 and still not open. Cafe is still there, though.

A small museum which sadly missed by most people who visit Stockholm (it's mostly domestic tourists in their own city who find their way here). The building dates back to the 1600s and shows the development of astronomy and various parts of the exciting science. There is not much interesting instruments to see the place, but many exciting stories about... More

The building is nothing much to look at from the outside and the museum is closed for 2014 but it does sit atop a hill in a leafy park. The cafe is open and provides light snacks and strong biter coffee from an urn. There are a couple of other small parks nearby and plenty of attractive buildings to look... More

We visited on October 1st the first day the observatory was open in the evening for the winter months. I think it is open Tuesday and Thursday from 6-9pm, there are tours of the building on the hour and the opportunity to look through the telescope half past the hour. We joined a wonderful tour at 8 and at 8:30... More

Staying in Vasastan

Neighbourhood Profile
Vasastan
Vasastan is one of those neighborhoods that almost looks too good to be true. It has the winning combination of a central location, tranquility, and beautiful buildings – housing sophisticated bars and eateries – that makes this neighborhood Stockholm’s most sought-after place to live. If walking through this area makes you feel like walking through a fairy tale or picture book it’s no surprise, as it’s actually the film set of the famous Swedish children story Karlsson-on-the-Roof. No matter what season, Vasastan manages to impress in the sunshine, covered in snow and won’t even lose its charm when soaked in rain.
