Your going to need a car to get to these their not really advertised anywhere and when you do visit their in the middle of nowhere. Well worth the drive out from Roveniemi it's only 25Km or so and the roads are good. It's signposted from the main road you drive through the forest on a gravel road, don't worry... More

This is a very interesting attraction in many ways. It presents one of nature's wonderful creations – some giant circular holes in the rocky hill. There are several holes with different sizes. Also, the whole area is rather interesting is great to explore. The other thing is that it is situated in the middle of the forest. You have to... More

Nature getaway. Here you can find in nature how wast forced were shaping the landscape after the ice age. Truly amazing to see the power of water, stones and sand in the giant potholes that were carved to stony ground. Locals prefer this spot also for bouldering sport. Takes about 30 mins with car to get here from the city... More

The photos are deceiving as you can't get down the holes....at least not now in May. There is no ladder besides them being filled with water. GREAT place for bouldering around, afternoon hike, exploring lovely forest walks.

Interesting place if you are into geology and geographical phenomena. You need a car of your own and if you visit them on a nice summer's day, pay a visit to the sandy beach of the nearby island of Rautiosaari. Ask locals for directions.

Hiidenkirnut is worth the visit if you like to do some rock climbing. During your trip you can encounter some potholes. This is nature at its best. During the visit in August 2013: * Beware of moquitoes! * In the potholes there are quite a lot of frogs

The Devil's Churn are about 25 km from Rovaniemi. There is no public transport to this place. It can be reached only by car. There are 14 mysterious potholes here. The potholes are known to have been created by swirling water of melting ice about 10000 years ago. Though there is a legend associated with it, according to which these... More
