By far one of the better organized museum we have been in. Most all of the displays have english write ups as well so bring your glasses. Leave your coats in the cloakroom or lock then up. Way too hot with overcoats. We took our time and read alot. Total time less than 2 hours,

Now and then when I visit Helsinki I also go to the National museum. It is always important to follow up their latest exhibitions. The museum presents Finnish history from the Stone Age to the present day, through objects and cultural history. The Finnish National Romantic style building is located in central Helsinki and is a part of the National... More

This museum presents Finnish history from the Stone Age till present day. You won't miss it if you are strolling on the the north side of Mannerheimintie Street.

For starters, I want to tell you that I love history and museums. LOVE them. So, when I found the renaissance exhibit absolutely wonderful, even though quite small in size, but then again, that is quite understandable, because this is Finland, and also, it's the national museums, not the national gallery. We have both. Then I ventured forwards and found... More

The collections of the National Museum are very nicely displayed. You should see them. The temporary exhibition of Italian renaissance paintings is an absolute must.

It's a must-see for any visitor to Finland, and I would suggest that you reserve as much of the day as you can. There's much to see. In addition to the permanent display... More

We just went to see the Christmas tree exhibition outside of the museum. We did it last year and also this year. Nice to see them annually.
