Beatiful villa of a former president

Our group of friends attended a guided tour in president's residence. It was worth listening to get the details and facts about history. Art, architecture, sauna!

Urho Kekkonen is the legendary Finnish president whose time in the office was heavily marked with Cold War. This beautiful villa by the sea served as his home during his presidency and up until his death. The villa is preserved just as it was during his time. Urho Kekkonen was fanatic about Finnish sauna and built a luxurious one for... More

Amazingly, even though I have lived in the area for more than 40 years, I had never stepped inside this building until today. Worth it! Built in 1904, and restored about 110 years later, this old stone building is an impressive place to visit both for its architecture and history. The main building houses the museum for Urho Kekkonen, the... More

President Urho Kekkonen was the longest serving president of Finland (1956-1982) during an era filled with political challenges both from west and east. His residence tell an interesting story about him and his family life. Here you will also find the world’s most famous sauna.

What a lovely Place by the sea and in the middle of peace and quiet. President Kekkonen and his wife lived there and sometimes worked also. Now the old, interesting building is a museum full of history. If possible try to join the guided tour, worth it. And there is a small cafe with very friendly staff.

Kekkonen has been "the boss" and could see him walking around the house and the garden. Good that the home has made as a museum. Easy to walk around without a guide. At the same time it was nice to see Miss Universum Anne Pohtamo's dresses. Sauna is must to see!

This is an interesting place to visit if you’ve got an hour to spare and would fit in nicely with a pleasant day trip to Seurasaari Island (and open-air museum) which is very close by. Both museums are easily accessible from the city centre via public transport; bus number 24 terminates just outside the footbridge from which the island can... More

We visited the museum and cafe in a sunny day. The location is very beautiful and the English tour was interesting, even for a Finn.

President Urho Kekkonen was famous for his passion to sauna and even sauna diplomacy. I felt obligatory to visit his residence on Tamminiemi and yesterday I had a chance to. There are tours of 3 languages dayly. The English one starts at 14:30. It costs 6,5 euro which is very convenient price. It was not however obvious that we can... More
