Located within senate square are some beautiful architectural buildings. The senate building being one of them, designed, by Carl Ludvig Engel, which adds to the beauty of the square with its ornate facade. The square is definetly a must see and admire this and other neoclassical buildings.

This building is of an elegant style that is common in the early 19th century. It overlooks the squre named after it. You will see the building when you come to visit the Helsinki cathedral and square. The hop on hop off buse stop is right there

Two of the buildings are on opposite sides of Senate Square. They frame the square beautifully and add interest to the large square. Our tour guide told us they were designed by Carl Engel in the 1800's. Don't go out of your way to see the buildings as they can be seen when you visit Senate Square.

The whole area is full of places worth seeing. This building symbolizes the democracy of this young country as well as its history under great powers. The senate square itself is a major place, the cathedral on the left, the architecture of the buildings on the left etc...

Did not have time to go in or around building, but our guide gave us great cultural/historical info. Love the architecture.

The Senate Building is one of the set of three official buildings laid out by Carl Ludvig Engel in the 1820's. Collectively this set of neo classical buildings frame Senate Square which is Helsinki's prime location for outdoor concerts and events. During Summer you will often find a stage set up in front of these opulent buildings. Unfortunately there is... More

Absolutely freezing and felt like a crazy idea to spend New Years Eve here with a 5 year old but with lots of warm drinks and a spectacular firework display it was well worth it.
