Popular with couples getting married and you can understand why. Great setting with fabulous views. A bit strange that circling the church is an Industrial scale chain with old up-turned cannons at intervals.Inside it is quite plain - as you would expect of a Lutheran Church.

It's not open much, despite what the website says, but the exterior is nice, especially the fence made from cannons and chain.

This church is special because it's combined with a lighthouse. The doors are quite heavy. The inside is ok. The outside is half way surrounded by chains.

Church and lighthouse in one, sat on the highest bit of Suomenlinna Island, the grounds with their heavy chains and cannon for fencing leave no doubt it was established on military ground. The trees were still leafless but the setting was dramatic nonetheless. Actually a nice place to stop and sit on the steps for a bit and gaze around,... More

Like other churches what has been in the middle of some war, you can sense the bombing inside these walls.

This church is in the middle of Suomenlinna. The interior is very simple, and it takes no more than five minutes to visit it.

Refreshing. I personally get over churches every time I visit somewhere but this was different. There are giant chains around the border of the yard and a bell sits at ground level. It's slightly raised but it doesn't really provide any views. What does make it unique is that it is a lighthouse so definitely wait until after dark. I... More

Old church with tied to the history of Finland and it being caught in a historical tug of war between Sweden and Russia. Interesting is the use of old cannons as part of the architecture and grounds of the church - but then again it is a church on a naval fortress island.....

We stopped for a minute to take a look at the Suomenlinna Church while we were touring the fortress. The church was somewhat plan in appearance but it was made interesting by the fact that it also operated as a functional lighthouse. It's definitely worth a quick visit.
