For a small price, you can climb up to the top of the new lighthouse and see a 360 degree view which is awesome! We walked on the rocks out to see the old lighthouse too. By the parking area there is a small break...More

The scenery around this lighthouse is spectacular! With the perfect weather, sunlight, clouds and well planned layout of lighthouse, there are so much photographic opportunities. We just love this place. You can pay a fee to go up to the top, but we skip that...More

We paid the small fee and braved the walk out to the lighthouse and the climb to the top of the lighthouse. Once we figured out that we needed to open the hatch to get to the outer walk around the light we were in...More

Situated right at the end of a peninsula, the panorama is amazing. There is another smaller lighthouse further out and a memorial by Icelandic artist, Bjarni Thor, though it is a bit of a clamber to get there at low tide.

This is a great place to walk after dinner in town. We went to watch the weather and explore the ocean rocks. Crashing waves and picturesque lighthouses made a great foundation for pictures of a cloud-muted oceanic sunset.

We knew from checking the lighthouse website that we wouldn't be able to access the inside of it as we were in Akranes on a Sunday in February. However, we still wanted to visit the area as we knew it offered some great photo opportunities....More

There are two lighthouses on this windswept tip of a peninsula and the views are beautiful. This is a great spot for wandering on the seacoast and the opportunity for picture postcard photos is wonderful.

I ended up here to experience the under the sea tunnel in Iceland. But it was well worth the trip. The place was kept by a guy (sort of) and you get to climb all the way to the top. Stairs were steep! If you...More
