We visited before the garden was in full bloom and still had a wonderful day. It's really interesting to see the unique species found in the arctic and it has a gorgeous cafe with amazing views form the pretty windows. Really central, easy to walk...More

The gardens were close to where we were staying in Akureyri and we were able to walk right to it. What a beautiful garden considering the climate of the area. Not as big as a Longwood Gardens in Pennsylvania, but beautiful on its own. Very...More

While not a huge botanical garden it was pleasant and well designed. We happened to be there on a sunny day so it was especially appealing

Very nice spot. Was a good getaway from town and surprising how many flowers and plants could be grown in this climate. Perfect spot to drink your coffee and eat a cinnamon bun.

We started the third day of our ring road tour by stopping at the Akureyri Botanical Gardens. I wish I could say that the visit was enjoyable; unfortunately it wasn’t because the weather did not cooperate. We were there in early May; it was raining...More

Akureyri does not exactly have an abundance of sights to see, but this botanical garden is worth a casual visit to enjoy some charming plants and flowers, which offer a nice contrast to the generally distinct landscape of most of the country itself.

Here you can come and see a lot of different plants, or just walk around in between the plants, trees and all this very relaxing.

What a nice way to finish off a long days driving...a walk in the park amongst beautiful trees, a huge array of alpines and very sympathetic buildings and sculptures. Well worth even a half hours diversion.

As Iceland's second city (some locals call it) has not much to offer, this is perhaps the only point of interest in Akureyri. This is a compact and nicely maintained botanic garden. Good for a stroll.

Up above the town center is this lovely garden. A relaxing and gentle way to enjoy the Flora of northern Iceland. Paths wind you through a variety of areas with flowers you can hardly believe withstand the weather. Nonetheless they persist. There's a nice little...More

Hi Derek, We will be in Akureyri mid-June. Will there be many flowers in bloom at the botanical gardens at that time or should we just skip it. Thanks. Mary

Hello Mary, I was in the botanical garden just a few days ago, and many of the plants are already in bloom, so by mid-June it will be lovely :) All of Akureyri is blooming these days with more green popping up almost each... More

No. They put prices in there own currency, and expect people to be able to deal with that accordingly. We had cash with us, but we also had a standby of prepaid 'cash cards'. Ours were cashcards in £ sterling, so that we... More
