Given that the city of Akureyri is just south of the Arctic Circle, it makes sense that this lovely garden would feature plants from local areas including the Arctic. Beautifully designed, each plant is lovingly labeled for your edification. We were able to walk through the gardens pretty late in the evening; check for hours. FREE!

Having worked in several gardens throughout the USA I wanted to be sure to stop here during our trip. It's a lovely garden in a nice location and it has good bones. There isn't a lot of plant life in May other than Willow and bulbs starting to pop. The plant labels are plentiful and the collections that they have,... More

We visited in mid May and there were plenty of blooming flowers! The gardens are open longer hours than many of the other places in the city so we went here early in the morning. A quiet and lovely place to walk around and see a surprising number of different plans and flowers. Highly recommend.

Visited on a gorgeous sunny day, just as flowers were starting to bloom. Very impressive and a real surprise. I'd think it would be beautiful from mid-May- August.

In June this would probably be an enjoyable place to walk around. In the end of April, the only thing that started to bloom were crocus.

Visiting Akureyri on a cruise we had an opportunity to visit Lystigardurinn. Very surprised by the range of plants that flourish this far north. Garden is a draw for visitors and locals alike. Even in October the gardens have plenty to see. You can't guarantee the weather but we had a dry day.

Beautyful can not remember entrance fee but it might be needed since to much tourists could cause damages.
