Stopped here earlier this week on a Golden Circle tour. Interesting phenominum of hot bubbling thermal springs. Stood for ages at the main geyser (with hundreds of other tourists) desperately trying to catch the moment of eruption in a picture, but it was a really grey, cloudy, drizzly day, so the steam just did not show against the cloud which... A fascinating landscape of hot springs and 'live' geysirs - Strokkur erupts every ten minutes or so and is worth the wait. A cafe and tourist shop over the road provides welcome warmth if cold outside.

What more can be said from all the other reviews. The wait for Strokkur to erupt is quite a tense and mesmerizing wait, but every 5-10 minutes there is a jet of hot water, maybe one or two in a row or even three! Just make sure you have your camera ready. The visitor centre has a large cafe and... More

Mud pots and thermal springs - geyser that erupts regularly every few minutes. Strong sulphur smell that you get used to quickly. Paved walking trails, wheelchair accessible. wonderful gift shop and restaurant. You can actually bake bread buried in the thermal area for 24 hrs. with a chef if you have time, as well as boil eggs in the thermal... More

The geyser area is easily walkable with a close-up view of the geysers. With eruptions every few minutes, you are guaranteed a spectacular viewpoint. There is a large store and restaurant across the street.

This was amazing to see. It goes off every 4 to 8 minutes so be patient. Its also a great place to stop for lunch at the soup restaurant.

We drove here from Reykjavik in our hire car, a very straightforward journey using google maps! I was pleasantly surprised that parking was plenty and free across the road and around the geyser itself is very 'uncommercialised'. Just some rope keeping visitors away from the very hot water. Although we were there at probably peak time (1pm ish) it wasn't... More

This is a great spot to visit. Anticipation, bad smells, steaming vents. All really cool. Geyser blows every 3 mins, so don't worry if you miss it - and plenty of opportunities to time your photos! Beware of being downwind as you will get wet.

Scenic drive to get there. Very nice visitor center for food and gifts, actually a nice place architecture wise. Free to park and walk up to the geyser. Fun to watch. Worth the trip

It's awesome and underwhelming at the same time . I can see steam anywhere . I realize it's not the same but a quick drive by is suffice.
