If you are visiting Iceland by car and you are close to Reykjavik area it worth having a stop at Strokkur. You will witness an interesting fountain geyser erupting once every 6–10 minutes. The place is in fact a geothermal area, many little geysers murmuring at the surface and a sulfuric smell in the air. In the Strokkur's parking place... More

If you have never seen a geyser before (like me), it was quite the sight. Strokkur was billed as erupting every 10 minutes but it was actually happening every 3 minutes while there. I don't think that allowed a lot of water to collect for the eruption so some were not as high as others. Strokkur is within a very... More

Lots of people and foot traffic. Shops and vendors with lots to spend your money on. Fun, but does not represent the Icelandic Culture. Just another tourist site, but good for a quick visit!

We drove from Reykjavik and it's a fair trek but worth it when you get there. Only one of them goes off now but it was going off about every five minutes and shooting right up into the air so was great to see. There's a well appointed cafe with amazing hot chocolate across the road for when you've got... More

This place was pretty fantastic! We loved walking around the park and looking at the different Geysirs from small to large! We were fortunate enough to see Strokkur explode not once, but three times in a row. Our amazing guide the Iceland guided tours said that he had only seen that 1 other time in his life. This place is... More

The main geyser, called Geysir (which BTW is where the word Geyser comes from) erupts very rarely. but there is one right next to it, Strokkur, who erupts every 4 to 8 minutes, so watch for this one. You can expect to stay here 20 to 40 minutes just to watch some eruptions and leave. There is a big restaurant/store... More

Easy access, free parking. Nice walk but keep your camera ready for when they erupt! Nice eating facilities, free toilets and a gift shop selling anything Icelandic!! Recommend!!

Stopped here earlier this week on a Golden Circle tour. Interesting phenominum of hot bubbling thermal springs. Stood for ages at the main geyser (with hundreds of other tourists) desperately trying to catch the moment of eruption in a picture, but it was a really grey, cloudy, drizzly day, so the steam just did not show against the cloud which... A fascinating landscape of hot springs and 'live' geysirs - Strokkur erupts every ten minutes or so and is worth the wait. A cafe and tourist shop over the road provides welcome warmth if cold outside.

What more can be said from all the other reviews. The wait for Strokkur to erupt is quite a tense and mesmerizing wait, but every 5-10 minutes there is a jet of hot water, maybe one or two in a row or even three! Just make sure you have your camera ready. The visitor centre has a large cafe and... More
