A great place to get away from the city, Yes we were there in the winter but still a nice place. In the winter ferry only runs on weekend, and the city bus route #16 does not. So one must take the #12 bus and...More

We had a few days to spend in Reykjavik, so we decided to go to Videy Island one afternoon. It was a nice way to spend the afternoon, as the island is picturesque, offers cool views from the Ferry to the island and of Reykjavik...More

There wasn't a great deal to do on Videy Island but that is why we loved it. It had amazing views away from the hustle and bustle of the city and we loved reading about the history of the Island. We visited twice on out...More

Not much there really except the remains of an old village. Interesting though to see how people survived here until comparatively recently.

Seems a little uninspired. Did not actually go to the island itself, but saw most of it from Hop off/Hop on bus. Seems a little barren, apparently there are a few houses on the island. Other than that seems mostly for a peaceful walk.

Choose a dry morning or afternoon and allow half a day, taking the ferry from one of the 3 pick-ups. It is possible to walk around the island in that time, and for shorter trips the tea house and old church are 2 minutes from...More

No. There are no cars AT ALL. Which makes the island really peaceful. There are very clearly marked walking paths. It is a bit windy so make sure to bring hat/ear protection.

Go to old harbor. There are a few ferries there and you can ask for their times. To be honest I don't know if there are any that go regularly during the winter. Call or email Elding. They're located on the harbor and they... More

There are two spots to get a ferry to Videy. One is at the old harbour, right in the city centre and another one next to the industrial port that is very near to the island. So probably if you get the ferry at the old... More
