A short trip from Reykjavik but feels like a different world. If you want a quiet, peaceful escape, this is it! Good hiking trails and beautiful views.

This island lying to the north of the capital Reykjavik can be seen across the water especially from the highest point on the island the 'tall church' (forgotten it's name). Anyway it looks as bleak and as barren as it does beutiful not least when...More

If you get the rekyavik card surely do this. Scenic island and quiet. I really felt like I was out there on this island.

This is a nice escape from the crowds to a wild, serene and tranquil Island. There are several hiking and walking trails on the island where you can climb the hills and view great scenery. It took us a about 2 hours to see most...More

The round trip ferry to this beautiful, uninhabited island from The Old Harbor or Harpa was only $ 15.00-- a definite bargain in Iceland! The views of Harpa and the Reykjavik skyline were stunning. The Island is natural and beautiful--great for hiking. The oldest stone...More

We could not book a trip to Vestmannaeyyjar, so we followed a Lonely Planet indication and we visited this tiny island that is just in front of one harbour. It was definitely a bad idea. There is nothing interesting to see there. There is a...More

From the trip on the ferry to the island itself, this was not at all what I thought of when I thought of Reykjavik, but it was an outstanding experience. The only note of caution would be for visitors with mobility difficulties. I was okay...More

This is a charming island - I got to go with my one day City Pass. It's about $15 roundtrip otherwise. Well worth it, to me. If you take the Elding ferry from the old harbour - Look for the big Elding sign. You'll have...More

A green and lush place for a good walk and getting Icelandic history refreshed. Being in the middle of summer we were fortunate to join a tour focusing on wild herbs growing on the island - great! We didnt experience the full glory of Yoko...More

I took the ferry from the old harbor to the island. It's about 20 to 25 minutes. But it gave me a nice spot to view the city from the ferry. The island doesn't have much to offer if you don't like hiking and the...More

No. There are no cars AT ALL. Which makes the island really peaceful. There are very clearly marked walking paths. It is a bit windy so make sure to bring hat/ear protection.

Go to old harbor. There are a few ferries there and you can ask for their times. To be honest I don't know if there are any that go regularly during the winter. Call or email Elding. They're located on the harbor and they... More

There are two spots to get a ferry to Videy. One is at the old harbour, right in the city centre and another one next to the industrial port that is very near to the island. So probably if you get the ferry at the old... More
