Less than two hours drive from Reykjavík is Eyjafjallajökull glacier, and just a little further the Sólheimajökull glacier tongue extends down from Mýrdalsjökull. We take an easy walk on crampons up on to the ice field where a wonderland of ice sculptures, ridges and deep crevasses awaits discovery.

Pasquale was our guide. Fabulous trip on the glacier. Highly recommend. Great fun. Journey is long and we had no narrative from the driver the whole way there or back and the mini bus very cramped. I gave this 5 stars on tbe basis of the glacier walk as this was simply the best trip of the holiday.

An excellent full day out. Our mountain guide was very informative and extremely patient with the slower members of the group and one lady in particular who chose to continually take photos, instead of waiting for our group to stop as he had requested. The walk overall was not too strenuous, but did involve walking up and down some ice... More

We booked this via Reykjavik Excursions and really enjoyed this- it's a long day starting at around 9am and returning to central Reykjavik around 7pm but worth it as you get to see a great deal of Southern Iceland. The trek on the glacier was the highlight, if you can try and get on Trig's group- very friendly Icelandic guide... More

My cousin and I took the "Walk on the Ice Side" tour with Reykjavik Excursions. We were given crampons, ice ax and safety belt. Anna was our guide. She was so knowledgeable and told us all about the glacier and the ash. The crampons helped us walk on the ice. I am short and Anna made sure I could keep... More

It was a great walk and interesting to see. Our guides Lenas and Haukur were fantastic and helpful. It's a long day though as the bus trip to get to the glacier is 2+ hours. The waterfall stop on the way back is wonderful.

It's been a fantastic trip to walk on the ice side. We are equipped with a pair of crampons and an axe, and are well instructed and guided by an experienced geologist. The view of glacier if so cool. We spent an hour walking on the glacier.

We were on a cruise ship and thought the best way to see the city was on the Hop off Hop on bus. We felt it wasn't as good as other hop on's we have been on. The trip around was fairly short with not a lot of interesting things to see really. It was only one line. We did... More

I had read beforehand that lunch would either be really early or late in the afternoon. The night before the excursion we went to the grocery store and got peanut butter & crackers and fruit. It was a good choice - it is a long day. I recommend bringing some snacks/lunch. The glacier hike itself was amazing. We walked in... More

Booked on line and very promptly received a mail to tell us we will have to stand outside the hostel a half hour before hand. Within five minutes we were off to the bus depot. The tour guide was from Japan, some one line jokes and this man made us feel at ease. He talked none stop tell us we... More

Had a fantastic time on the Take a Walk on the Ice Side trek. They picked us up around 9 AM from the BSI Bus Terminal and we drove about 2 hours to the Sólheimajökull glacier. It was such a beautiful day and the 15 other people on the tour were just as excited. We broke off in to two... More
