Icelandic Mountain Guides is Iceland's premier adventure tour operator. For over 20 years we have been in continuous operation of offering adventures in the wilderness of Iceland and Greenland. The company was established in 1994 by four young mountain and outdoor enthusiasts and pioneers whose aim was to introduce the wonders of Icelandic nature to travelers from all over the world. We started by offering Glacier Walks in Skaftafell and later on Solheimajokull. Hiking, backpacking and other adventures and expeditions in Iceland and Greenland soon followed. Today Icelandic Mountain Guides is a company that offers adventure tours ranging from short day tours to longer multi-day expeditions in the great outdoors in both summer and winter. So whether it is the exploration of the icescapes of glaciers, crossing of impressive highlands, trekking in the extraordinary rhyolite massifs or hiking in fascinating valleys, our aim is to Make Every Moment an Experience.

We did the blue ice experience with icelandic mountain guide at skaftafell NP. I am 6 months pregnant, had some difficulty bending down to get the crampons on, other than that it was a fantastic experience. Went to 2 small ice caves. Learned some geography. Guides were amazing. Took some fantastic photos. I definitely recommend this trip.

All I wanted to do when I went to Iceland was walk on a glacier and this trip did not disappoint. it was a smaller group (20 people) with 2 guides. Both guides were full of knowledge, helpful and amazing. It was a 1.5-2 hour hike on the glacier and back. It was a great experience, and can't say enough... More

We did the Blue Ice Experience in Skaftafell National Park with Icelandic Mountain Guides and had a wonderful time. We were nervous when they started handing out the ice axes and crampons. We're both in decent shape but we don't live in the snow. I've never walked on a glacier before. And the idea of being surrounded by other people... More

My daughters (ages 38 and 34) and I (age 67) went on the Leiðarendi cave tour, which takes about 3 hours including driving time from RVK. We had about one-and-a-half hours in the cave. Things started off awkwardly when the tour guide discovered, upon arriving at the cave, that we had no helmets; so we had to return to RVK... More

We have just returned from our holiday in Iceland, which we enjoyed very much. Enjoyment helped by having taken your Glacier walk and Northern Lights tour. Your guides were helpful and polite, the tour was well planned, feeling safe on the walk and the hunt for the lights was very well researched. The main reason we choose your tours was... More

Thanks for sharing your experience, Fay H. Glacier Walks are certainly a specialty of ours and it is amazing how much they have taken off since we introduced this type of tour in Iceland back in 1994. We have been running them ever since with an emphasis on safety, fun and sharing knowledge. All the best, Jewells Icelandic Mountain Guides More

Went on the glacier walk tour and it was absolutely fantastic. Views were incredible and Tryggvi was an excellent guide. He was very knowledgeable about the glacier, always offered to take pictures for the group, and was safety conscious. Would definitely do this tour again when we come back.

We were on the south coast and went to the Skaftafell national park's visitor center when we saw this tour company's office and decided to do glacier hiking. Luckily there were a few spots open. We initially didn't plan on doing glacier hiking but I'm so glad we decided to do it at the last minute. It was an amazing... More

We really enjoyed this tour. The company and tour guides were very professional and organized. The glacier hike itself was amazing and didn't require too much hiking. We even got to go inside a few ice crevasses which were pretty cool. A great introductory glacier hike. Next time I'd like to do a longer one and explore more of the... More

lulli was our guide and was wonderful. He was knowledgeable, personable and friendly. The glacier part of the trip can be a bit unsettling for some people and we felt confident and safe with him at all times. We were picked up at our hotel at 8:30 am and we were out on tour until returned to the city at... More
