If you are travelling with children aged 1-12 yrs, this park is a good one for playing and seeing some animals. It is a mixture of animal park and amusement park and you can spend many hours walking around and letting the children play and try out some rides, but beware that you do have to pay extra tickets for... We visited in January with young children, the rides were all closed - even the very small ones which was a bit surprising. The animals were well kept and our children enjoyed seeing the horses and the seals. The park was good fun although heavily covered in snow, the diggers were also out of action for the winter. I think... More

It isn't massively clear how to get into the zoo but once in there is a variety to see. It's dirt cheap to get in on Iceland terms and you get what you pay for. All the animals are friendly and you can easily touch them and take photos. It's not massive but there's rides also to take kids on.... More

We had a gap in our schedule and decided to try the zoo. We misread the bus map, were saved by a random bus passenger, and then got lost in the park trying to walk there in the snow, so maybe that made us particularly glad to finally get there. The entry fees were discounted for students and kids, making... More

Visited in November 2016. This setup is definitely smaller than the average zoo (even by Singaporean standards, see the Singapore Zoological Gardens) but it didn't seem as gloomy as what many say it was. Firstly, it's winter and naturally, the animals don't like moving during winter. When we visited, the Fox were housed in the mink enclosure and the minks... More

Ok, it's small and has a limited menagerie. However if you have kids or like the local wildlife it's a very pleasant place and in winter there are lots of wild redwing thrushes about. Animals all looked healthy.

I think any family with children would love this park. It is not like typical zoos. It doesn't have the largest, most exotic animals. I think the animals here are supposed to represent animals found in Iceland both on farms and in the wild. There are playgrounds and small amusement-carnival type rides. It was one of the better priced places... More

there's a section with rides and fun things to do with family, it was closed for the season. the actual zoo part was pretty small, with limited animals. if you can't get to the countryside and see Icelandic horses, sheep etc come here. there are also half a dozen lizards/toads, pigs, and reindeer. As for the wild animals - the... More

Animals I saw: 4 seals, who were the absolute stars, 2 Icelandic ponies, 4 reindeer, 1 pregnant pig, 4 cows, a handful of chickens, a lonely mink, a black fox, a few sheep and goats. Not a zoo. The rest of the park was dedicated to children's rides. No one was there and it was kind of creepy to see... More

Not so many animals, but enough small kids. Special fun to walk among the hens. Big play area with lots of different toys, included in the ticket.
