This place is really a flea market. At least the front portion of it is. It is only open on Saturdays, and they really do sell used and second hand items. There was a really cool vintage postcard and stamps stall if you are into that. There's also plenty of wool items for sale, as well as lava jewelry. The... More

Kolaportid is only open on satuırdays and sundays and locals open their stalls to sell books, vinyls, comics, t-shirts and DVD's. However for a second hand market I find the prices quite high. The small food market is more entertaining and you can buy some home-made food. My suggestion would be moss bread which looks and smells bad however taste... More

If you miss it, it's certainly not the end of the world. However, it's a nice place to get a better feel of local foods and customs. Many stalls sell random junk that clearly came out of a Chinese factory and nobody would need, but there are some highlights. I bought a beautiful vintage ceramic dish with Icelandic motifs and... My husband is drawn to antique shops and flea markets so we had high hopes for our visit. With a great location near the harbour area, it was an easy walk from our hotel on Laugavegur. The market is held on Saturday/Sunday from 11-5 except on some holidays. We arrived at 11:15 & the market was already quite busy. Admission... More

Kolaportið is an ok place to stroll around if you have nothing else to do on a Saturday or Sunday. Many of the sellers have the same stuff but once in a while you can get lucky and find the shoes you wanted in your number or a great coat. It is what most flea markets are like, you can... More

We spent an hour wandering around the flea market to avoid the rain. It is easy to find and close to the docks and main street and the hotdog stand. There were a lot of similar stalls and variety was somewhat limited but we did get some nice handmade jewelry that reminded us of the lava rocks and the colors... More

Came here to browse, in case we found a funky gift, and found Kalaportid to be pretty much your standard, flea market, in a fairly plain building near the waterfront. Some handmade items (wool socks, sweaters, lava jewelry), an all-Asian foods section, and area where you can sample dried haddock, cod, Arctic char, the much-hyped fermented shark, jellies, crackers, salts,... We arrived in Reykjavik early on Sunday. Grabbed a hotdog with the works at Bæjarins Beztu Pylsur and headed over to the Flea Market. Like every other flea market anywhere else in the world, don't expect to find an abundance of quality merchandise - but do have a great time sampling items from the food vendors (just keep an eye...
