OPEN MONDAY - SUNDAY from 09.00 Till 17.00Hrs (last admission at 16.30Hrs). Ta' Kola Windmill in Xaghra, Gozo, is one of the few surviving windmills on the Maltese Islands dating back to the Knights' Period. Its origins go back to 1725 during the magistracy of Grand Master Manoel de Vilhena (1722-36). Nowadays, the windmill houses one of the largest known collections of tools, some of which were manufactured by the last miller who lived inside the mill. The site offers a glimpse into the traditional rural life of the locals during the past centuries.

Reasonably interesting but would not have bothered if it had not been included in visit to temples as I have previously visited windmills elsewhere and this is not a working example.

Pleasant, interesting museum of rural life set within an old windmill. It was built in 1725 when there were many windmills in Malta built at the instigation of the Knights of St John to increase flour production. This is one of the few remaining. It...More

One of many amazing antiquities in Xaghra, this well preserved, authentic windmill gives you the best evidence of how the miller lived and plied his trade. All the machinery is restored and visible from every angle. Great self-guided tour; stairs to climb but at age...More

We had a combi ticket for the temples and the windmill and we found this small, beautifully kept museum pretty interesting! It won't take you long to walk around but there's a lot of information on milling and the last active miller in Xaghra. Definitely...More
