The amount of gold embellishment in this cathedral was amazing. really awesome. But I always wonder at what expense of the people. As an Anglican/Lutheran I find it over the top.

On it's own the church is only a 3 star, but it is 5 star when combined with St Paul's Grotto (where St Paul apparently stayed for 3 months), Catacombs (eerie and where more than 1000 people were buried), museum of art and ww2 shelters which all come combined on a joint 5 Euro PP ticket.

Beautiful church. We were there as they were preparing for a festival. It was really beautiful. There is a restaurant across the street and a desert shop on nearby corner. Walking distance to catacombs.

St Paul's presence on Malta Is legendary and a large part of the tourist trade, so a visit to St Paul's church in Rabat was really interesting. The visit to the WWII tunnels and ancient catacombs was a bonus. The lower reaches of the caves are accessed by quite steep steps and the tunnels become a little tight, narrow and... More

Unfortunately after theft of a silver artefact on display in the church the parish priest decided to keep the doors closed of the parish church of Rabat. The only part now accessible is the chapel of Publius over the St Paul's Grotto which is behind the right door in the facade but only accessible through the Wignacourt museum just across... More

This is a beautiful Church on the site where they believed St Paul lived and preached. It is lovely inside and great to look at from the small square/plaza in front of it. Lovely traditional sweet shop nearby to try local treats!

This is truly a historic site. As you enter you are filled with a great sense of awe as one should when entering a Church. The Catholics really know how to build Churches! This is a magnificent example of how much the Maltese people had God to heart to have funded the building of such a beautiful palatial temple!
