Among the 21 departments and institutions of the Joanneum Universal Museum, founded as the Joanneum in 1811, the Armoury is in a class of its own. Attracting around 55,000 visitors annually, it is the Joanneum's most-visited institution without an exhibitions role. Moreover, as the largest historic armoury in the world, it is a living memorial to a chequered, conflict-ridden past, whose bogeymen and prejudices are still with us.

Looks small, but you can spend 2 hours just gazing in all old weapons and armors on display. Highly recommend a guided tour.

go hand see, especially if you are form the 'new world' (Australia, US, NZ) - and are interested in how 'they' were equiping their armys and miliyias in the middle ages. Get a tour!

The armoury wasn't what I expected. I expected a boring museum with too much information about each and every sword/spear. But the Landeszeughaus wasn't like that at all. It isn't so much a museum about weapons as a museum about the building itself - the...More

If you like history and medieval armory you should visit this museum, the guide visit is very good. Very complete collection with some dummies to try! The only bad thing is you can't take photos

I was stunned - the place is just unbelieavable. Bring a few hundred friends and you can easily equip a full army - from almost any century.

Thoroughly enjoyed the English guided tour. The guide was very informative, and some of the armour and weapons used for display were so intricately made and beautifully decorated.

One of my reasons for visiting Graz was to see the Landeszeughaus (Styrian Armoury), but I left with mixed feelings. Billed as the world's biggest armoury, the Landeszeughaus contains a wide variety of various weapons and armour from the 15th to 18th centuries, spread over...More
