This is a pretty large fortress with awesome views of the city. You take the funicular to get to the top and there are a couple of restaurants up there where you can have lunch or a beer. I understand that they have Mozart concerts...More

We were lucky to have had such a beautiful day of sunshine. The climb was challenging as most of it was on gravel not pavement. Nevertheless, it was worth the climb to get the amazing panoramic view of the town and of course the majestic...More

We just wandered around the castle grounds & admired the wonderful vistas over Salzburg & the surrounding mountains. We took the funicular up to the castle & then just strolled down the hill to the exit. €12.20 each for a basic ticket for the Castle.

Everything about Saltsburg is beautiful, the architecture the history the beautiful quaint buildings and the cafes and restaurants. Best time to visit is August/ September. A must place to visit when in Saltsburg is Hallstatt. Only a short bus trip from Saltsburg this picture post...More

Worth doing just for the views over the city. Castle itself and museum otherwise average. Steep walk up but vernacular railway cost included with "Salzburg card". Walk down afterwards to see Nonnburg abbey.

We caught the funicular train up to the castle €12 each. Views are outstanding. We were lucky to have a hot sunny day.. Well worth having food there, it was lovely.. If in Salzburg, it well worth the trip.

Fascinating history abounds in this interesting castle/fortress sitting high above Salzburg. Such history demonstrated in such a beautiful cultural city. One of our favourite cities on our trip away.

The fortress itself has beautiful vistas over the city, but not sure I’d spend the money just for that. It also has some nice displays worth seeing and a museum. The museum is under renovation, so can’t comment on it when complete. The portion currently...More

Need to take a cable car up, which is totally worth while. The Salzburg view from the fortress was awesome.

Not as far as I know. FYI - the walk up to the fortress can be quite steep; best not to bring it up and leave at the hotel / station
