Right at the old town area you can't miss it, easy paid Access with the funicular or if you fit enough you can just walk over to the top.

the view from the fortress is beautiful. On one side you can see the all city and on the other side you can enjoy the view of the Alps, still with snow on the top at the end of april. The entrance ticket is quite expensive and it is not really worth, so save the money

The trip starts with a short train ride up the mountain to the fortress which is very impressive. Slightly reminiscent of Edinburgh castle. The views are superb in all directions. The lay out of the tour is very good with English versions of the audio explanations of the exhibits. The golden hall is majestic. Worth a couple of hours of... More

Worth a visit just for the amazing views of the city and alps. Fortress is like an interactive museum. It was particularly fascinating to see the weapons on display, ranging from ancient cannons to WWII artillery.

Nice exhibits, well laid out. Views of Salzburg are really wonderful. Hike up is incredibly steep. If unsure take funicular which is included in ticket price. Worth a couple hours.

The views from the fortress are to die for! We walked up here just before sunset. The funicular seemed to be closed, even though it said it was supposed to be open, so we made the trek by foot. It really wan't a bad walk up, steep, but not bad at all. The views are SO worth it!

I enjoyed the view from the top and the self-tour through the museum. There is a place to eat and more to see.

The fortress looks quite incredible and slightly intimidating looming over the city, and is definitely a sight of wonder for people in the town below - so I was quite excited to take a trip up to see the fortress from the inside. I spent about two hours at the fortress, and was a bit underwhelmed but what they had... More
