On our visit we were thrilled to hear 2 opera singers singing from the balcony. A truly incredible treat, in a stunning setting.

The cathedral is beautiful. You can walk around looking up at the lovely paintings in the ceiling and the beautiful sculptures. Light a candle for just 80 cents.

Free to enter but donations welcome. Worth 20 minutes to walk around in the cool and gaze at the architecture and paintings. Plus five (?) organs...

A wonderful historic site. The Baptismal font is interesting and used for Mozart. The architecture is an unusual Baroque, more subdued than normal. Particularly beautiful in the morning when not busy and the light provides an ethereal quality to the main alter and cathedral. Do...More

A beautiful church decorated to a perfection and harmony. Look at the ceiling and don't miss the fake cupolas.

If you are in the vicinity my advice is to take 20 minutes or so to enter the cathedral and marvel at the architecture, the paintings and the general interior. You will get neck ache from angling your head to take in the views above!

Very popular place to visit in Salzburg. The large paintings and ceiling artistry simply have to be seen. The Cathedral is easy to reach as it is in the old town and close to hohensalzburg fortress. You can't really miss it!

I enjoyed some of the symmetry in the Dom Salzburg (picture attached), but when it comes down it, it was pretty much the same as . . . well . . . every other European cathedral.

An imposing cathedral with its twin towers and central dome that is easily spotted in the Old Town. Though not uber-gilded, it has a nice main altar and a beautifully decorated dome. It is vast inside. There is also an magnificent organ from the early...More

Please double check, but when I went it was first come first serve. I doubt there are reservations. It was worth going early!

The Cathedral is located in the Kaepitalplatz , near St Peters church, off Kaigasse street in Old Town. The very narrow street is shared by the Fiakerunternehmen, taxis, bicyclists, and pedestrians. Depending on where you... More

Hi. There seems to be no restrictions on dress for high mass so common sense will serve you well. perhaps no trainers, shorts, tee shirts, short dresses...or too much bare bits. It would appear wearing dark clothing... More
