I was here on an off day but there was still a wonderful selection of local farmer's cheeses and fruits and vegetables. Great place to visit and walk the different stalls.

The market was huge, and they were smaller markets interconnected to form one big market. I got completely lost walking through it! The baked potato was a great food item for a cold day. Other comfort food was churros and waffles. The market was surrounded by charming buildings oozing with old-world charm. It was quite crowded so prams and luggage... More

When we were here in September the area was a hive of activity day and evening with market stalls, amplified music, dancing, eating and drinking. This was probably why there were virtually no concerts in Salzburg that week.

Lots of lovely stalls to look at in the beautiful location. A very touristy stop, with carriages, unique shops and restaurants and cafes. Fountain is pretty lovely too.

This is one of the sites used in the film version of "Sound of Music". It is a large marble fountain ringed by four water spouting horses and topped by a statue of Triton. The square is used as a market on occasions and other time has a number of buskers, horse-drawn carriages, etc making this a busy place.

A beautiful, traditional outdoor area complete with horse drawn carriages, lovely shops and many restaurants and cafes near by. A very nice area to visit either during the day time or a summer's evening.

We visited Salzburg in mid December. We thoroughly enjoyed the Christmas markets, but this one in particular was nice and big and centrally located. Definitely worth a stop.

It's already opened the Christmas market in Salzburg, here is the location. They are open till 8pm. Just one negative impression, they don't accept credit card very easily.

It is a good place to see the castle and the funicular. There were some stalls selling souvenirs at reasonable prices there too. Worth a visit
