We were told it's around 150 steps to Nonnberg but we went a back route which has maybe only 50 but it's quite a walk around. The view from the abbey is absolutely stunning. You can walk into the church and put 50 cents into a box by the alter which powers the light. There's a small cemetery to walk... More

Beautiful altar and several lovely Romanesque frescoes. The church is slightly out of the way and therefore does not have quite as many tourists as down below.

Difficult to get to as there are 150 steps up to this old church and abbey. Apparently this is where the real Sound of Music couple actually married. A little bit austere for my liking. did hear some lovely singing in the background whilst we were there.

It is a steep climb to the top of the Convent and I would guess at least 60 plus steps so not for the faint hearted. A little disappointing when there. The view was good though

We wanted to visit Nonberg Convent as we were familiar with the movie, Sound of Music. There was a splendid view of the Austrian alps. A very nice and idyllic place

Had to stop here to see some sights from the sound of music. Its always fun to see something you have seen on the big screen more than a dozen times.

I thoroughly enjoyed my visit, well worth the climb up all the stairs from the city. A beautiful, restful place.

quiet and reflective and see the evidence of generations of nuns kneeling and walking on the hard stone floors.
