Lermoos family hikes are fabulous

We completed both the family-friendly themed hikes this week and they were fabulous. We did Moosles Zauberwald first... a 3.9km loop with activity stations for kids and 9 letters to collect along the way to complete a password. This was our favourite family hike, it starts with an awesome cubby house, educates kids (and adults) about the region with lots of games to play along the way. Our kids aged 4 and 7 years loved it. They never once asked when we would be finished and they were running to get to the next activity and clue. When you're a parent wanting to enjoy a hike this is priceless. We discovered the password at the end of the hike and the kids were rewarded with a medal and they were sooooo excited about this! (The medal is free and available when you give the password to either the ski lift ticket office or the tourist information office in Lermoos). Next we did the Moosles Forscherpfad hike. Again this was wonderful and the kids loved it. We took the ski lift to the starting point and were given discounted tickets for having a Guest Card (available from your accommodation). This time we answered questions along the way to find the password and the kids earned another reward (another medal... but different colour and again very exciting). It was all downhill and the activity stations were excellent (long jump, water play, barefoot trail). These trails were excellent. Well maintained and perfect for families. I would highly recommend a visit to Lermoos purely for these hikes, the kids loved the rewards it was an amazing incentive for them to keep hiking. We especially liked that the medals were available at the lift office so the kids are rewarded as soon as they finish the hike.

I really like this ski area, its not the biggest but its got plenty of space for off piste skiing between the slopes.

One day here using the Top Snow Card from GaPa. That pass gives you access to Garmisch Classic, Zugspitze summit, Lermoos, and others. We decided to drive into Austria for a day and try Lermoos. I'm glad we did.

Of course one day isn't enough to fully get the measure of somewhere, but on the basis of one day;

It's a nice ski area - more blue runs than anything else, and limited for the more experienced skier, but for a simple recreational day, to work on technique rather than challenge, it was very nice. The lifts are good - no queues and good modern equipment. The runs were well-groomed and in good condition, and we were able to park (free) right by the entrance. It was great.

I wouldn't plan to ski here for more than a day, or two at the outside, but to combine with days at the other resorts on the Top Snow Card, is great.

We were staying in Munich and had planned to visit a resort within Garmisch to go sledging however the runs were not open. We decided to opt for Lermoos, we took the train from Munich, it took approx 1 hr 30 mins. My partner had been emailing the staff at Lermoos ski resort to check the runs were open on the day we had planned to go, they were very very helpful and kept us updated. The walk to the ski lift and hire shop is approx 30 mins from the train station....maybe a little longer with a 6 year old. We hired sledges and helmets from the shop, not very expensive at all. Then paid for 5 trips up on the ski lift. The toboggan run is off to the left as you get to the top of the slope, just near to the T-Bars, I believe there are other runs but this was the only one open on the day. The run is 3 mile and the scenery is amazing. Kids. Just go on the sledge with an adult, it is far too fast for them to go their own. The first part of the run was extremely icy and it can be difficult to control the sledge, you have to dig your heels in to slow down. After a few runs I think we finally found our feet and the experience was amazing! Great fun and we will give it another go sometime!

Lermoos is a great ski are for new skiers as well as experienced. The ski runs are very long and can take about an hour to come down. Awesome! The snow is great and they even make snow if necessary.
The town itself is quite and has some good restaurants. Most people can speak enough English to help you out.

We rented sleds to go down the run with our 2 and 3 year olds kids. The price was reasonable and we had a great time the first day. The conditions were great. The snow was powdery and easy to slow down and steer.

The second day later in the week, conditions were icy and not as easy to do. It isn't a criticism of the place. Just be aware of the season you are going in and whether going with small kids is doable. We went later in the season. But we still had a great time regardless.

The sleds are the wood toboggan type with no brakes. So be ready to brake with your feet.

Just got back from a great weekend here. Very impressed with the wide range of summer sports on offer. Both our children (aged 3 and 5) really enjoyed the summer Rodelbahn - it is the longest that we've seen up until now.
