Zoo Vienna, the oldest existing zoo in the world founded in 1752. Schonbrunn Zoo was voted Europe's best in 2008, 2010 and 2012. Schonbrunn Zoo is the perfect place for a journey into the fascinating world of the animal kingdom. Open year round, it combines the highlights of the natural world with an unparalleled history as the world's oldest and Europe's best zoo. It is part of Schonbrunn as a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage listed site and home to more than 700 species of animals. Marvel at the Giant pandas, tigers, orangutans, koalas and elephants, immerse yourself in the magic of the Amazon and feel the heat of a tropical rainforest in the heart of Europe. Moderated feeding sessions, guided tours and a trip aboard the panorama train turn a trip to the zoo into an unforgettable experience.

We bought the combo ticket along with the Prater wheel tickets since we would visit there the next day. Many animals were sleeping but some offered quite a show like the elephants and lemurs. Do not wander out of the park and think you can...More

We were so excited to visit Zoo Vienna as part of our Austria Trip but were very unlucky during our visit as all the animals we were most excited about were royally sleeping! The Giant Panda, Koala, Cheetah, Leopard, Lions and Tiger - all of...More

It's was an unplanned visit to this zoo, and a surprising one too! It is well planned in a way you can see all of the animals even if they are resting. Clean and well signalized.

While it is the oldest it is still charming. We went for the kids and until we get there, this was their main focus. Again nobody to ask questions to.

The oldest zoo but very modern looking, the animals have nice and fine residences, takes about a day to visit it completely, good restaurant right in the middle

I would recommend booking on line in advance to avoid the queues. A surprisingly large zoo with a wide range of animals. Plenty of information around the zoo about the wildlife. Lots of areas across the zoo with cafes and places to sit and relax.

A good variety of animals. Consider in mind that some animals have visiting time (like panda) and except those times, the animals are at rest or taking their nap.

The overwhelming impression is that aht animals are treated with respect and that they like to be where they are. The presentation and indications about feeding, presentation etc. are very good.

I loved going early to see the animals interacting with the staff cleaning and maintaining the habitats. Nice to be there before crowds. They post the feeding times so you can plan your route. Recommend the big bugs exhibit!!

Vienna’s 13th district has always been in the shadow
of Schönbrunn Palace and its gardens, but has
interesting hidden gems waiting to be discovered.
Allow half a day for the imposing Habsburg residence
and the gardens with Gloriette belvedere. Reserve the
other half to discover the secret charms of this posh
residential neighbourhood. Sneak out of the gardens at
Hietzinger Tor (Hietzing Gate) and head down
