A Nice Walk Even During the Winter

It is already winter, but still a nice walk on the beach, seeing the Mediterranean Sea. You can easily walk to Old Jaffa from the hotels.

Nice location with sand for barefoot relaxing and sunbathing. Good drinks and nice views of the river.

Not a real beach obviously but sandy stretches built on the bank of the canal opposite Schwedenplatz. There are plenty of deckchairs and benches to sit and watch the world pass by along the canal. Also a popular place for graffiti - some of which is quite artistic and some just ugly. The beach area is quite a sun trap... More

A really cool beach bar on the riverside in Vienna - great cocktails and mezze platters were so yummy. Just bring cash because they don't accept card!!

The place is nice, summer feeling from the sand that is all around the place. The drinks are good, a bit expensive and when there are many people you gotta struggle a bit to get the attention of a waiter. Overall I would give it a 4 star ranking.

The best beach bar in town and maybe the best of the whole long river. Good food and good drink even if they are pretty expensive. Lower prices would be appriciated. Go there in the afternoon and enjoy a perfect sunset with your friend or your soulmate!

The place is mostly empty in the afternoon as people are coming after 6pm. It is a cheap place where you can go to see the local middle-class having a beer and chatting.

Not far from the mainstream touristic routes. Along the Danube canal (where the Danube is definitely not blue) there is a rather vivid place for both tourist and locals. This terace was definitely as crowded as the outside temeprature, still in five minutes we managed to have a table for four. In spite of the aglomeration the service acceptable. The food... More

Clever idea and the day we visited it was 33 degrees Centrigrade so very welcome. Deckchairs and sand abound. Food seems expensive but the portions feed two. Nice way to spend a day and close to city centre.

Staying in Leopoldstadt

Neighbourhood Profile
Leopoldstadt
Welcome to one of Vienna’s trendiest quarters. The second district has witnessed a turbulent ride, from medieval swamp to vibrant Jewish quarter, from pleasure ground for the noble and humble to current hip residence and workplace of Vienna’s creative crowd. Cross the Danube Canal from the city centre and take in life on Taborstrasse with its mix of old townhouses, churches, theatres, discount shops and ethnic restaurants. Head for Augarten via Karmelitermarkt, Leopoldstadt’s trendy marketplace. Baroque Augarten itself hosts a bizarre mix of manicured hedges and flowerbeds in front of a colossal World War II defense tower, the publicly accessible 300-year-old Augarten porcelain manufactory, the palatial boarding school and funky concert hall of the Vienna Boys Choir, and the modern art museum TBA21. At its opposite corner, The Prater not only houses the Giant Ferris Wheel but blends a bustling amusement park with lush woodland, perfect for a bike tour. Further east is the old derby racing ground of Krieau.
