Fantastic displays

We spent a good hour here. All the displays have excellent English translations. I loved the old films and the way in which the subject was tackled.

Some weeks ago I went to Vienna to see the "Bestattungsmuseum" (funeral museum) which is located on Zentralfriedhof (central cemetery). You can go there by tram, bus or car. I prefer the tram. It takes about 30 minutes to walk the exhibition. Then you can buy a "kaffeehaeferl" (mug, 6 Euro) or cemetery honey (3 Euro). Great museum!

The visit begins with the history of 8 personalities having anything in common: Emperess Zita, Emperor Otto, actor Curd Jurgens, singer Falco, cardinal Koenig, two politicians and football player. The visit goes on with objects, films, photos and clothes related funerals. Despite the... More

We called a day ahead and booked and English tour. The location was far out of the way but we felt it was worth it. Upon arrival we found out that our tour was actually in German but us English speaking people could do the tour on our own with written explanations in paper format of the items on display.... More
