Well worth a vidir

A plain and simple church (by local standards) with some very fine features and of course this is only the church so you should also visit the fascinating crypt

It is a simple church, lacking any interesting interior. Being considerably less busy than other churches in its proximity, it is worth visiting for a prayer but not for sightseeing.

When I visited...the church was under renovation and everything inside was covered in plastic. It was a bit disappointing BUT...I came for the crypts which were excellent!

I was interested to visit this mausoleum as my guidebook made it sound like the coffins themselves were an impressive sight. The guidebook was correct but although it was interesting to see the mausoleums of Vienna's long deceased royalty it was also a very frustrating experience as there is no information in English about each Royal you'll find there. Essentially... More

So many Habsburger emperors, rulers and archdukes I read about (Marie Theresie, Franz Joseph and many others) resting in peace in this famous place. It made me full of respect and honor. Magnificent tombs are incredible. You can see the developement of the burial practices and decorations during the several centuries.

Lovely little church with friendly staff. It is currently undergoing renovation so it looks rather like a building site on the inside and the scaffolding on the outside hide it well. The crypts, where the Austrian royal family are buried, was an interesting place to visit and the coffins were beautifully decorated. However, I feel I would have gotten more... More

This is probably one of the most overlooked cathedrals in Vienna. Everyone sees St. Stephens and many also stop by it's neighbor, St. Peter's. This church is harder to find. But it is just as important, if not more so, historically. It holds a crypt and the hearts of royalty. It is beautiful and much less crowded. The fact that... More

Beautiful coffins in the imperial crypt. I spent ages wandering around looking at them all, although I'm not too clued up on the history of imperial Austria I find this sort of thing fascinating. I'd just visited the Hofburg Palace and Sisi museum so was very interested to see her tomb and that of her husband and son. Cheap entry... More

I had just visited the Hoffburg Palace & saw the Imperial Treasury there having religious treasure removed from the Capuchin Church, which spurred me on to visit this church located close by.I see a plain building with a simple & coarse architecture & on the front facade, the insignia of the Capuchin order. I got the feel that the Church`s... More

Inner City
In Vienna's best-known district, pedestrian boulevards Kärntner Strasse and Graben connect you with landmarks such as the Wiener Staatsoper (Vienna State Opera), Vienna’s iconic Stephansdom (St. Stephen’s Cathedral) and the vast compound of Hofburg, the Habsburgs’ former Imperial Palace. Peek down side streets such as Annagasse and Weihburggasse, and Graben’s Seilergasse and Habsburggasse, to get a feel for the centre. The Imperial Apartments and the refreshingly demystifying Sissi Museum are must-dos at Hofburg. Spacious squares such as Am Hof and Freyung often host beautiful seasonal and antiques markets.
