Vienna is full of gardens and such places where one can sit and relax. This one is right in the middle of the museum square. So even while your friends are visiting museums that aren't of interest, you can sit back here. There are a lot of activities scheduled here also.

Went to view Shielle and Klimt with friends. Great museum with good gift shop and cafe. Great space with no chance of overcrowding.

Pretty much dead in Winter and the Kinder Museum required bookings although no one was in it. Pretty soulless in winter and little for kids to do.

So easy to get to by underground, the stop is marked 'Museum Quarter' so you can't miss it. As we came up from the tube, there it was in all its glory! Museums and Art galleries altogether so not much walking. Beautiful clean well run places where several hours can be passed browsing the artefacts and treasures.

Nice place. A lot of restaurants, museums and also fine if you just want to sit in the courtyard. A place where young people meet.

A great unique place in Vienna that is home to a blend of small vendors to restaurants, coffee houses and wineries. Great for wining and dining, chatting with friends, chilling in the sometimes brutish sun or performing whatever in front of an international crowd. Plus it houses a huge contemporary art museum if that is your vice. The location is... More

There is so much to see in this museum quarter that it would be impossible unless you have a lot of time to spare to see all the museums here, plan what you want to see and try not to get distracted.

Inside the MQ you can socialize with your friends or business partners in all seasons. Now in winter they have there some great Glühwein and Puntsch bars and in Summer/Spring you can just relax on the giant plastic "sofas"

Staying in Inner City

Neighbourhood Profile
Inner City
In Vienna's best-known district, pedestrian boulevards Kärntner Strasse and Graben connect you with landmarks such as the Wiener Staatsoper (Vienna State Opera), Vienna’s iconic Stephansdom (St. Stephen’s Cathedral) and the vast compound of Hofburg, the Habsburgs’ former Imperial Palace. Peek down side streets such as Annagasse and Weihburggasse, and Graben’s Seilergasse and Habsburggasse, to get a feel for the centre. The Imperial Apartments and the refreshingly demystifying Sissi Museum are must-dos at Hofburg. Spacious squares such as Am Hof and Freyung often host beautiful seasonal and antiques markets.
