I just wonder why there are tow separate reviews, one for Rathaus and another one for it's plaza, The plaza is the front yard of Rathaus How much can you say about a front yard which is built to accommodate the building which will stand on it? They both should be reviewed once to eliminate confusion. Well, Rathausplatz, and Rathaus are... More

A stunning place to visit. If you are lucky and are visiting there on one of the many festivals, it is a great day out.

One of my favorite places in Vienna. Not only it is absolutely stunning - especially at night it has beautiful lighting. If you hear that there is something happening in front of it, definitely visit it. They have some great fests throughout the year.

We didn't realize how well decorated the city would be for Christmas when we decided to go the week before Thanksgiving. It definitely put us into the holidays spirt. There are a number of Christmas Markets around the city...this is probably the largest one. It was magically decorated with christmas lights, and ice skating rink. We found our selves coming... Went to the Christmas Market here and enjoyed both the market and the fabulous building. The architecture is superb.

How often does one get to ice skate before a majestic castle? The "rink" is outside, with various paths meandering around trees and statues providing lots of room, not just an oval rink. We particularly enjoyed the music too. The numerous food vendors were a delicious plus. We arrived at 4:30 on a Thursday, not crowded. At about 5:30, sunset,... More

Different architecture style than other buildings in Vienna. It reminds people of church. Beautiful place, beautiful platz. When we visited they were preparing it for Easter market, so I can imagine that April will be interesting month to visit.

Fortunately we visited the Rathausplatz during the World Cup, so the platz was surrounded in a variety of wonderful food and drink stalls with big screens for watching the football. The people were friendly and the building looked magnificent in the evening.

Staying in Inner City

Neighbourhood Profile
Inner City
In Vienna's best-known district, pedestrian boulevards Kärntner Strasse and Graben connect you with landmarks such as the Wiener Staatsoper (Vienna State Opera), Vienna’s iconic Stephansdom (St. Stephen’s Cathedral) and the vast compound of Hofburg, the Habsburgs’ former Imperial Palace. Peek down side streets such as Annagasse and Weihburggasse, and Graben’s Seilergasse and Habsburggasse, to get a feel for the centre. The Imperial Apartments and the refreshingly demystifying Sissi Museum are must-dos at Hofburg. Spacious squares such as Am Hof and Freyung often host beautiful seasonal and antiques markets.
