Spittelau is a bit off the road, but if one uses the Vienna transport system it is easily accessible. It is probably the coolest heating plant (Hundertwasser architecture), and moreover it is not crowded around it so one can enjoy the view...

Forget the Hundertwasserhaus - this is far better! Even if you can only visit it from the outside. The Spittelau is right next to a metro station (lines U4 and U6), so it's no big detour from wherever you are in Vienna.

Spittelau waste incineration and district heating plant by Friedensreich Hundertwasser is a beautiful example of expressionist architecture! An organic, eclectic and colourful industrial plant that is also a flamboyant piece of art! Don't miss this icon of the Vienna skyline

Plan your walk around Vienna so you get to see this cheerful heating plant. There is noting except the plant ther, but the Danube canal is near, so you can have a nice walk near the water afterwards.

Didn't go on a tour, but just seeing the outside is worth the trip to this fascinating facility. Travel there easily by train or tram from the city.

You will either think this is very neat or a waste of time. Take a look at the pictures - if you don't understand why this is even considered an attraction don't go (as far as I know it is not open to the general...More

Special building in an industrial environment in the outskirt area of Vienna. It is worth a visit at the cross of U4 and U6.

if you change the outside of a horrible building it stays a horrible building, even if the new outside is designed by an artist like Friedensreich Hundertwasser
