excellent viewpoint

My eyes felt quite pleasant when I went on the peak. So windy peak, beautifull forest and the sunny weather. a few minutes of walking around made me so relaxed.

It is a bit far from the city centre but definitely worth a visit during a sunny day. It is a hill, from which Jan III Sobieski of Poland led his attack on Turks during the second siege of Vienna saving the city - hence, the Polish church on the top. The platforms give a great view over the entire... More

Was driven up here by our local guide, who insisted on showing off the views - there was a very ample car park, an old church, a restaurant or two and some snack/souvenir stands, but the view is the main thing. Sadly on our visit it was pretty foggy, but still got in some impressive glimpses. Worth the trip if... More

Take the Ubahn 4 to Heiligenstadt and then catch bus 38A. After an amazing trip up the hills overlooking Vienna you will get off in Kahlenberg. There is a large viewing area and the cafe there serves excellent snacks at a reasonable price.

We took a visit to the Kahlenberg travelling bu U4 and the bus no 38A. Splendid view of the Vienna city and Daneube river. The coffee shop serves good coffee and snacks.

Kahlenberg is a hill located in the 19th district (Döbling) and offers stunning views over the entire city. There are two terraces: one at a small church and one at a restaurant. Kahlenberg is recommended for a day-trip from Vienna.

If you go with Tram "D" till it's Endstation "Nussdorf" you will be at the leg of Kahlenberg. Cross the street and at the end of the curve you will find the beginning of the "Beethoven Weg". Follow the track upwards (left and right at the small bridge). After some while you have to cross straight ahead a bigger street... More

It takes about half an hour to travel from the city center by metro. It is located close to a place producing wine. It gives you an extremely beautiful view of Vienna. There is a nice restaurant and coffee shop where you can spend some time

i love walking up here, either from the end of the D tram, or from the end of the 38, a fantastic walk up to a great view, with some winery possibilities on the way.

Thank Christian R

Neighbourhood Profile
Vienna’s poshest green leafy suburb is also its most romantic hotspot. Walk up Grinzinger Strasse with its many historic wine taverns. The tops of nearby Nussberg and Reisenberg hills make for great strolls through the vineyards, and the occasional discovery of a hidden winery. Popular local weekend hangouts are Neustift am Walde with even more great wine taverns, and café restaurant Cobenzl, up on Cobenzl hill – fantastic for great vistas of Vienna. The woodland around Kahlenberg has a wonderful and not too strenuous hiking path - just don't forget the insect repellent. If you have adventurous children, take them to Waldseilpark Kahlenberg (forest rope park Kahlenberg). A must-do if you want a taste of the Vienna Woods is a stop at Josefinenhütte next door with its great food, cosy interiors and wonderful outdoor space.
