better at night

stunning at night time as it seems to get a little lost in the daytime with all the other architectural delights close by.

Ice skating at City Hall anyone? I couldn't believe there was an awesome ice skating rink path in front of city hall. Great place to hang out.

Ice skating in a beautiful setting! So much fun! There is also really good food and some great drinks. We skated for a while and then enjoyed the little "village." We had a giant pretzel, some blueberry punch, patries, and a beer. The pastries were fresh and delicious and the punch was warm and tasty! I definitely recommend stopping by!

The Rathaus was utterly beautiful. It was magnificently built with its meticulous design! Definitely worth a stroll while in Vienna!

We visited the Christmas market and went iceskating at the Rathaus prior to Christmas. The markets were beautiful however very busy. The iceskating was lovely around the trees with different areas to explore.

It is amazing how good it feels to be ice scatting in front of Rathaus and in the park in the middle of Vienna.

We visited the area in mid December and found the Christmas market to be large and offer many different venues. The building has beautiful architecture is also worth a peek inside. While I would not tell you that this is a destination stop in Vienna, I would include it as a short stop while you are visiting the many stops... More

Staying in Inner City

Neighbourhood Profile
Inner City
In Vienna's best-known district, pedestrian boulevards Kärntner Strasse and Graben connect you with landmarks such as the Wiener Staatsoper (Vienna State Opera), Vienna’s iconic Stephansdom (St. Stephen’s Cathedral) and the vast compound of Hofburg, the Habsburgs’ former Imperial Palace. Peek down side streets such as Annagasse and Weihburggasse, and Graben’s Seilergasse and Habsburggasse, to get a feel for the centre. The Imperial Apartments and the refreshingly demystifying Sissi Museum are must-dos at Hofburg. Spacious squares such as Am Hof and Freyung often host beautiful seasonal and antiques markets.
