Our cruise ship passed the invisible line, called the Arctic Circle, and we entered the arctic. Somehow it felt unique. We passed Vikingen Island and there was the Arctic Circle Monument. Quickly snapped some pictures before we lost sight, memorial experience.

We visited the Arctic Circle in December 2016 with our daughter of 7 years old whilst travelling on the MS Finnmarken, Hurtigruten. The ship made a big fuss as we passed over the arctic circle. They held a ceremony on deck to mark the crossing. It was a very special moment as we passed into this area.

OK - I am a somewhat cynical tourist, my wife and I have had the good fortune to travel most everywhere. And I laughed at myself for getting up early to stand outside on the deck with my wife in early twilight. My cynicism was misplaced - it was a wonderful experience, shared with other passengers on our Hurtigruten ship... More

On our drive up to Bodo from Trondheim, we make a brief stop at Polar Sirkelen Museum to mark our first time to reach arctic circle. We took picture at the pole and it was very cold and windy even it is in July. By crossing this line, you officially enter part of the world where you experience 24hrs daylight... More

We thoroughly enjoyed a 12 night "Big Island, Big Adventure Tour" cruise on the Ocean Nova with friends in July 2016. The 10-11 Quark expedition staff were nature lovers with a deep passion for all things Arctic and they were eager to share their knowledge and enthusiasm. There were daily optional presentations on topic such a polar bears, whales, Arctic... More

We drove across and the Norwegian side is well marked and impossible to miss. There is a gift shop, a weird monument and about hundred meters from it visitors leave flags and messages on the rocks. It was radically different to our first crossing on the Swedish side where it was so obscured we ended up missing the marker twice.

Crossed the Arctic Circle on land in Rovaniemi on my way to Kirkenes. Crossed it again on June 24 on board of the Hurtigruten 'Polarlys' on my way to Bergen. On the inslet known as Vikingen, there is a 7 m high globe that marks the latitude of the Arctic Circle. Goodbye Midnight Sun.

There is not much to see at the Arctic Circle but the trip to get there and back is awesome!! We visited by land on a motorcycle and then by sea sailing the Hurtigruten.

We crossed the Arctic Circle on a cruise ship and it is quite an experience. On a tiny island is a globe that marks the position, well actually a few feet short, of the line of the Arctic Circle. The surrounding area is breathtakingly beautiful where the Salttfjellet mountains come down to the sea. Our ship circled the tiny island... More
