I write this review, with utmost pain. I recently visited the place and was shocked at the behavior shown by the staff. They didn't even bother to help me out, while they were very eager, to serve other guests. They even talked to themselves in their language, definitely about me, in front of me, which was very unprofessional. And when... More

I am truly sorry to hear about your experience. It is particularly disturbing since the Narvik War Museum is operated by the Narvik War and Peace Centre which is set up to avoid the mechanism leading to conflict, such as racism. The museum staff are all trained to meet all customers in a friendly manner. At the moment I have... More

Located in the middle of the city, it was easy to find. The museum had a very good approach to the history regarding the second world war in Narvik. It was very easy to follow the timeline, and an interactive exhibition (with buttons to push, and modern media equipment) made the information easy to understand. They have also included an... More

Thank you for your kind review. I am very happy to hear that you liked the museum and that we met you with a friendly face. As you point out most of the items was on display in the old museum. As for new relics, the one thing that might pass as a relic is the german paratrooper bike. Eystein... More

Ultra knowledgeable guide, good selection of WW2 aretefacts, plus some modern arty items (you may be able to guess I didn't care for them) that some might enjoy.

Thank you for your kind review. I am very happy to hear that you met one my excellent co-workers and liked our historical presentation. As for the part we call Zona, some like and some do not, but we have tried to make it in such a way that it triggers the younger part of our audience. Eystein Markusson Director More

It was good to view the museum and it was thought provoking but I suppose we are spoilt with the better Museums in London.

Thank you for your review, I am glad you liked what you saw. There is of course a lot more we could have done in terms of items and topics if we had the resources that your cosmopolitan museums in London have. However, we do our best with what we have. We are working on new temporary exhibitions and at... More

Well organised in both Norwegian and English. Good variety of displays using different media and I really felt I'd learnt something when I left. Wished we'd gone there on the first day of our trip as we felt much more affinity with the town when we knew more about their role in WW2.

We visited Narvik from Bjorkliden by train specifically to see the war museum and it was definitely worthwhile. The museum had recently moved from its former site and is now in a media hub along with the library etc. It is now run by the "Narvik Centre of War and Peace" so there is a focus on peace and human... Narvik's war museum tells the history of the Narvik battles during WW II. It's a small museum, but very well designed. It narrates the history of WW II from the local point of view, analyzing motivations for the war and its consequences in the local level. Very very nice!

Nice collection of items salvaged from WWII shipwrecks from the nearby fjords in Narvik, the site of the underreported yet hugely significant Battles of Narvik where the British and Germans seeked control of the port and the Ofoten railway important for iron ore and hence metal supply for warfare. Museum had nicely presented history and stories of individuals - fighters... More
