This is a must do in Tromsø. Wear very warm clothes (both in winter and in summer). Buy coffee and waffle at the coffee shop at the arrival of the cable car.

We finally made it up the cable car on the last day of our trip, out of the four days we were in Tromso, the cable car was closed on two of them for high winds. However, they are very active on Facebook so I simply sent them a message via Messenger to check that they were open before we... More

departures are on the 00 and 30 of each hour well worth the views. in winter can be very cold with the wind chill car follows the terrain on the way up/down, so you don't have the feeling of being way up in the air, if your a nervous cable car user Although the views are good as you step... More

Definitely if you are in Tromsø, one must take the cable car visit, it offers fantastic view and it has a cafe/restaurant in which one can enjoy warmly and comfortably the surroundings.

The cable car is just the beginning. Once up there is a lovely walking area with outstanding views. We went after snowfall and walking through virgin snow is a real treat!

It was a incredible good surprise. We decided to walk around and stopped by the cable car. The ride was wonderful, the view was breathtaking. There, you can see Tromsø, the mountains... it was an amazing experience. Highly recommended.

We had a free first full day in Tromsø so walked across the Tromsøbura bridge past the Arctic Cathedral - it's about a 20-30 minute walk from the town centre. Although advertised as every 30 minutes, with cable car appears to run when one or other of the cars is full (on the way down there was a queue as... More

For those used to skiing the cable car is quite sedate and runs only every half an hour. The views at the top are good and there is walking. If going on winter you will need ice protection on your feet.

We walked over the bridge, admiring the views and called in at the cathedral on our way to the cable car. It is a decent walk, 30 minutes at least, but it's nice to see the residential area and scenery. You can also take a bus from Tromso town centre. The cable car goes once every 30 minutes (roughly), although... More

We walked from the city centre to Fjellheisen. It's about a 45 minutes walk. There was a sign a the station that due to strong winds the cable car does'nt run today. We have to come back!
