This is a small museum featuring Thor Heyerdahl's adventures and explorations. The actual Kon Tiki is here. The museum gives you a sense of the mind and struggles of an explorer-- the kinds of people that are willing to risk all to discover something new....More

This museum was part of a tour and to be honest, I had no idea what it was about before entering. Modern day explorer that was pretty crazy thinking he could make a reed ship and raft to sail the ocean. Crazy, brave and inquisitive!...More

The Kon-Tiki and Thor Heyerdahl are national icons in Norway with good reason. This museum does a good job of catching the adventuring spirit of Heyerdahl and his crew - buy a combined ticket for the nearby Polar Museum

Being a child of the 50's I well remembered the exploits of Kon-tiki but I learned so much more from this visit. The information about the design and various functions of the components was extremely interesting.

This is a small museum, but as someone who has watched (one of) the Kon-Tiki film, I found it fascinating. There is a short film showing footage of the trip across the Pacific, and the actual raft. Truly incredible. Expect to spend 0.5 - 1.5hrs....More

The story of the journeys of Thor Heyerdahl have gone down in history but to actually see the two rafts he used and to read what he did is something else! Well worth the visit.

Much to see and explanations help educate about the journeys. The rafts are huge. We saw all we wanted in about 30-45 minutes.
